Pack your wii up, take it Toys R Us with the receipt, make sure EVERYTHING is in the box, wiimote, games, cables even the instruction book, also if it was bought as a bundle take everything from the bundle. Take it to the customer helpdesk at the front of the store and tell them its faulty. Let them test it and find it faulty. Tell them you want a replacement, if they refuse or tell you to speak to Nintendo, tell them that you bought the console off them, not Nintendo and therefore you warranty is with the store not the manufacturer so you want THEM to sought it out. If they refuse ask for your money back, as long as the item was purchased within 28 days they can't refuse it, if they do take the name of the person who served you, the multimedia managers name and the stores managers name and speak to trading standards who can intervene on your behalf. DO NOT let them repair it, if you do then you lose any right to a refund. With the refund go by it somewhere else.
Other things, NEVER get angry, raise your voice, talk down to or in any way be abusive to the staff. That will make them more reluctant to help you and in certain cases can lead you to being removed and banned from the store. The staff are there to help YOU and it is often a faceless manager who's constrained them in rules preventing them from helping you. Treat them like you would want to be treated and you'll get better service.
