Hi guys,

How great is this? I spent 15 hours of my life queuing for a Wii (we counted 26 wii jokes like that through the night), I'm first in line, first to get home and plug in my system, and the ****ing thing won't read my games.

Mii is not what i bought a Wii for!?!?!?!Smilie

On top of that, the support pages don't load for the uk based site, the customer support line costs to much to call (for a student), and the e-mail i've sent doesn't seem to even register with them.

Help!!!!

Just to be a cunt if you have tried, but:

Are you sure you're putting the discs in the right way round?

Yup put em in the right way round, made sure they were clean, nothing. I bought twilight princess so i tried it with that too, nothing!

XD I put mine in the wrong way around...It seems the right way around until you work out which way it would be if you lay it flat...ehm. I couldn't get the nintendo UK site to load AT ALL earlier. Not sure what's up with it. Don't know who else you could contact, maybe go back to the store you bought it in?

I bought it at Toys R Us, because it was the only place in my town with units that weren't for pre-order.

They've allocated all 12 units to everyone and won't have any more for about a year or whatever.

FAIL!!!!!!

Yeah, I'd go back to the shop.Smilie

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

They'll probably send it back to Ninty then. =/ From what someone else said (can't remember who) it's gonna take something like 12 business days. =(

That's not good enough. I didn't wait in line for 15 hours to wait another 12 days for them to send it off. I've read that if you get in contact with them, Ninty sends replacements out to you free of chrage. Is that just for the US or here too?

Have you tried playing Gamecube games with it? Might help to figure out exactally what the problem is.

But yeh, TAKE IT BACK!

Smilie Nintendo UK suck.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

So much for the 'Nintendo workmanship quality' of years gone by, then. This is why buying a console at launch is risky. But yeah, I'd have a go at putting a GC game in here, see what happens.

i don't have any GC games, this is my first console i've had since a megadrive when i was a kid. So should i take it back to toys r us or should i send it off to nintendo myself?

At time of writing i've still not got an e-mail from their tech support guys.

I'd try the store first to see what info they've got about returns. They're bound to have some information on what to do.

Okay, scrap that idea then! Yeh, take it back to Toys 'R' Us, with the receipt. The problem is, they may not be able to replace it as it could well be sold out. At least they'll probably give you some advice, or just tell you to send it to Nintendo...

Its one machine.

guess i'll have to do it tomorrow. This sucks major ass.

I'm a zombie now because of queuing and i can't even play the bloody games i blew all my money on.

I'd ring up Toys r Us first before taking it in, but keep trying the site.

It's a complete joke that you have to ring a premium number. MS did 0800 MYXBOX, and you'd have a shipping box sent to send it in and a fresh unit within 2 Days IIRC.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

i can't afford to call a premium number. i can barely afford to send it away to them myself. this is just ridiculous. /me sobs

You must be absolutely fuming, I would be. You'd think they'd test every console with a disc before packaging it. All the other Wii problems I've heard of have been to do with the firmware updates.

Also, I'd recommend doing a similar topic Here and Here.

Suddenly my light issue seems rather minor. Tough break dude.

See no Wiivil
Hear no Wiivil
Speak no Wiivil

If you have your Wii vertical, try inserting a disc into the unit with it horizontal. If your Wii is horizontal, try it vertically.

I'm sorry for your broken Wii. I suggest, get a phone card and use it to call Nintendo if you cannot do it toll free. Nintendo will replace it as soon as possible. I've heard people have gotten their Wiis replaced in less than 12 days, more like 3 or 4. Here's one thing I've noticed about Nintendo, they will work as hard as possible to get you a working Wii.

When the Nintendo DS came out and had dead pixels, they would send people new units. Usually a company will say if it's one or two dead pixels, you will have to just put up with it, but Nintendo replaced a DS if it would only have one.

Gumbler: That would increase the production time of the Wii, but I'm sure they take one unit out of 100 or 1000 out of the line and test it for defects.

Who are we? We are the Knights who say..... "Wii"!

You wouldn't believe.

So far: It won't play on my widescreen monitor, so i have to buy a TV, because not even joytech is making a wii-Dsub cable.

The Shop wouldn't let me split my transaction over two cards so i had to go WAYYYY into my overdraft on one.

The games don't work

It POOOOOOUUURREEDD down with rain last night and my feet were soaked.

I could of turned up at 5 am and still gotten a Wii, and probably one that worked

And now i have to spend more of my own money to send it off to nintendo because they don't like returns.

HIGHLY PISSED

should of got a bloody 360 ffs

Actually, I heard Nintendo sends you a mailing label to slap on the box.

Who are we? We are the Knights who say..... "Wii"!

Well i'm now back off down to Toys R Us to talk to them, wearing the shoes that are still wet from the night before, with the head that feels 10 sizes too big from sleep deprivation, with a fist that's going to punch the first guy who asks me if i put the discs in right.

Will update you guys after i've had a pint or twelve afterwards.

Every laser unit has to be calibrated individualy, which is why some people have to tweak their laser when playing backup GC games Smilie. Some GC's have really high voltage, some really low.
This particular problem is probably caused by a much too high a voltage on the laser due to dodgey calibration. It'll certainly be a very uncommon problem.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.
