By Adam Riley 29.05.2007 43

According to the latest issue of Nintendo Power, it has been revealed that Nintendo will release Kuju's Battalion Wars II for Wii at the same time as Halo 3 on Xbox 360 in the US - 24th September. Can both games co-exist or is this a bad move?

Kuju said (In NTOM unfortunately) that they have some amazing water so I'm as hyped as a hyped thing! X3

I wouldn't buy Battalion Wars 2 even if it was the only game released for weeks. Not worth the $50 to me.

However, if I somehow manage to get hold of an Xbox 360, I'll definately consider Halo 3. It'd depend on how much money I have and whatever else I need to get.

I doubt I'll have a 360 by that time though...dang it.

As for the market as a whole, I think Dr. R pegged it.

...it's being released then to stop some Wii owners selling up and jumping ship to the 360 and Nintendo are willing to sacrafice some sales of BWII to that end, in a way they aren't with a title like Metroid or Mario Galaxy.

Halo 3> BW anytime...

Enoch Powell was right, and you know it.

Smilie awsome... i think Nintey know that BWii will not outsell Halo3 but i think they are tryind to send out a message to Microsoft Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Awsome, I will get both and not emerge from my house for weeks!
I really can't wait to try out multiplayer in BWii it so desperatly needed it in the cube version.

Edit: oh wait this is US dates..fuck sake.

Not sure if it was intentional but this is a masterstroke from Nintendo. I believe they know that BWii won't stand up against Halo3 sales wise but by releasing it on the same day Nintendo have already started generating word of mouth for a product that was all but forgotten on the Wii and went almost unnoticed on the Cube.

Look at Killzone on the PS2, in every aspect it was a shit game, bad animation, tired gameplay, etc. The game wuld have bombed if it wasn't for the fact that magazines started to hype it up as Sony's Halo killer. While no one really expects BWii to outsell Halo, by mentioning it Nintendo are bringing attention to the game and quite likely increasing its sales.

Good point, Gastros.

BAD BAD move!! What the hell are they thinking?? If they want to fight it then release Galaxy or Brawl!!

Hopefully this just means there won't be a bunch of cocks online on BW2 on the first day

But that will just eat into the sales of both games.

Battalion Wars Goes Head-to-Head with Halo 3

...and the sensationalism of games that do not relate to each other begins.
