bonjour,
is it true or is it a rumour that gamecube games are gradually being phased out. i went to comet, currys and p.c. world to get some new cube games, but the shelves were just filled with ps2 and x-box games......not a gamecube game in sight!!!!!!!!
this got me scared and frightened, so scared that i ran, ran like the wind! Smilie

I would sure hope not. My local game dealers have a plentiful abode of Gamecube games, yours should too!

No, it's not true. The games aren't being 'phased out'; there's just less of them and they're harder to find, as fewer shops stock them.

Yeah, there's honestly no point in Comet etc stocking them - the GC is in all honesty not doing superbly in the UK, and most GC owners will use dedicated game stores or the net to buy.

The GC will keep good store presence in proper gaming stores though - my Game has the Cube proudly at the front of the store opposite PS2 and by the till and door. PC/XBOX at the back.

Of note though where I live, or where I shop/study, is a big gaming city - many informed gamers from Uni who buy GC. I'm lucky in that respect!

Bloody Comet also don't stock actual X-Boxes...

Bastards...

As for the issue at hand, it is sad to see GameCube getting less and less shelf space in shops, and prominence on some websites, but it'll probably pick up again next year anyway.

yeah this is happening in most places i think. All the comets, currys, dixons etc where i live dont stock the cube or cube games anymore. although this doesnt really affect me seeing as i shop at dedicated games shops where i can trade in my old games and generally get a better deal

I'm not entirely sure on this, but who determines how much space a console gets in a shop? Is it the amout of money the manufactures throw at the shop for space? or does the shop decide?

I think it's the shop. Basically, if the Cube ain't selling they reduce the amount of space it gets, until it gets no space at all!!

Currys, comet and PC world are actually the same company I believe, and they haven't sold GameCubes for well over a year now. But you'd be an utter fool to buy games from playes like that anyway - they charge far to much.
