Shyguy didn't play it with a Classic Controller, though. Silly him.
My opinion? I couldn't stand 3D Sonic before, and I fucking love Colours. Having gotten the Limited Edition also does help =3
I never did play with Classic controller. But I can imagine vast improvement in many areas with it.
What control method does it use if you don't use the GC controller or Classic Controller? It's not like that awful motion sensing control they had in Sonic and the Secret Rings, is it?
Nah it uses the Nunckuck control stick for movement. You flick the Wii Remote to activate wisp powers and that's the only motion control involved. So quite simple really. Just think Mario Galaxy except it doesn't quite feel right in comparison.
I use a Gamecube pad and it works perfectly with it.

How is the Nunchuck and Wiimote controls so much worse then? It uses an analogue stick, which is the same on the GC controller and Classic Controller.
I'm quite confused by it all.
I wouldn't say it's awful to control. I think it's just a case of standard controllers being more suited due to button layout, no motion etc.
Well, I think anyway, I spent about 1 minute before switching to the Gamecube pad so maybe ShyGuy can provide a better answer.
SuperShyGuy's score is the lowest I've seen for the game, lower than any publication, that's saying something.
Probably the biggest criticism by far is the Wiimote controls. I'm not sure why, I haven't used them, but if it's something that all people are in agreement of, there's got to be some reason for it right?
It's got to be the button layout. The waggle controls might not be spot on either. They're the only things that'd be a problem for me. Will give em a go later.
I expected ShyGuy to give it a low score, he hasnt exactly said much nice about Sonic in recent times.
Him from Destructoid who gave the game 4.5 yet gave Sonic 4 an 8 and saying it fixed so many things wrong with the classics. Some people shouldn't be allowed to review professionally.

Destructoid are sadly taken into account on metacritic.
The game currently has an average of 78%:
22 Positive reviews (75% up to an impressive 4 90% reviews)
12 Mixed reviews (60% up to 70%)
1 Negative review. That being Destructoid's 45%.
Not perfect but on the right track.

Is that a problem? I just reviewed it like any other game. That's what I think.

You were so hung up on the Sonic Cycle and Sonic being dead for good, now there's a Sonic game that tons of people love, it's getting loads of great reviews.
I just wish we could have more positivity on it, it's really great for something like this to happen.
A lot of people loved Sonic and the Secret Rings, at the time and I thought it was awful (still do). Some people will just have varying opinions.
Some people hate Shenmue and I adore, but it doesn't matter to me though. As long as I enjoy the game, that's all that matters.
I'd say just play Sonic Colours and enjoy it, if you are enjoying it and then ignore the negative comments.

Secret Rings got terrible reviews, even though a lot of people liked it.
I just hope this game picks up sales for Christmas and really shows SEGA that it's a good direction to take Sonic in.

SEGA also said they would cease production of Sonic games that get bad reviews.

I'll be interested if they actually abide by that in Sonic Free Rider's case.

I just think you're forcing yourself to be nasty about it to prove a point. You were so hung up on the Sonic Cycle and Sonic being dead for good, now there's a Sonic game that tons of people love, it's getting loads of great reviews.

I can promise you that I didn't force negativity into this review. The highest game I personally rated a SEGA game was Jet Set Radio and that received a 9.
Colors is better, but just not "my cup of tea."
Do you like the Classic Sonic games? Maybe, like Marzy, Sonic just isn't your thing?
I guess we all have franchises we just don't get. I personally can't play any Castlevania game.

I absolutely loved Sonic Colors. Best Sonic game I've played in a long long time.
What it did was a throwback to all the things that made Sonic good. Awesome level design. Tight controls (I used the Gamecube controller). I used the wiimote for less than 30 seconds and switched lol. Speed speed speed. The switch from 2D gameplay to 3D shows that Sega is learning from their past and are able to move forward.
I think Sega definitely played to the wii's strength by taking what works graphically and using it to their advantage. Honestly it looks like Sonic Galaxy if you know what I mean and I'm ok with that! If it looks good then, hey. All of the worlds look amazing in their art style is very creative. (Especially the 2nd world...I mean wow....just wow)
Sonic in this one is nice and innocent. Going back to his old hay days where Sonic was the only star. Tails is a sidekick and they're going to kick Robotnik's butt! Simple as that. A few funny self-referencing moments that reminds me of the old Sonic cartoons.
None of that Shadow, hedgehog clone bullshit where they've been adding useless characters with no real point than for fan service.
Don't get me wrong Shadow was good....in SA2, but he's served his purpose and should have let him die.
Sega put in some awesome transformations from the wisps altering Sonic's formula, but not that much to change the game.
The music is reminiscent of the old school 2D sonic especially the pink wisp transformation. I didn't notice it, but I could have turned this into a review, but what evs. If I had to rate it just off of enjoyment alone I'd give it close to a perfect score. Even then I need some time as to not give it that.
I just enjoyed it....alot!
P.S. I'm one who HATED Sonic and the Secret Rings! The Black Knight was a step above that, but still pretty bad lol

I think Secret Rings had better music, stage design and gameplay, but Black Knight was better for a lot of people because the controls weren't glitchy as fuck.

I quite liked Secret Rings. It wasn't amazing but because I got it with my Wii, I was able to look past it's flaws because it was something 'new'.If only that stupid fairy girl had shut up.
I'll be getting Sonic Colours for Christmas.

You leave my bby Shahra out of this.
I'll be getting Sonic Colours early next year after a price drop since I already have both No More Heroes to play right now and Donkey Kong Country Returns and Monster Hunter Tri(+ a black CC Pro ) for Christmas.
