I remember when everyone was disgusted when they reported that Metroid on the Gamecube would be First-Person. I think this ended up being my most loved GC game, but I never played 2 or 3.

MP2 wasn't quite as good as MP, but was still a great game. MP3 was better than 2, but still not as good as MP. Still, I think all 3 were great games.

Can't wait to play MP & MP2 with the Wii controls.

Metroid Corruption was utterly fantastic and easily my favorate, despite not being so inventive with its guns.
Other aspexs of the game made up for it, imho.
#1 was the most revolutionary, but was hugely unbalanced difficulty wise.

Anyway these screens look pretty identical, but it goes to show how great the games looked.

Looking better than most Wii games...

Avoid Games Like the Plague, productivity++

Oh-ho-ho, shiieeeet! Smilie Bring it on, Samus! Smilie I can't wait for this. And MP2. Smilie

The Metroid Prime Trilogy were freak'n incredible. I can't wait to play 1 & 2 with 16:9 widescreen support and Wiimote/Nunchaku controls. Plus I have progressive scan support now. Smilie w00t! Brilliant games.

Chance favors the prepared mind.

Metroid Prime 3 is my favorite primarly because of its controls. (And also I liked going to other planets and having a bigger story and other characters for a change.) But with the NPC versions of 1 and 2, that may change.

I really want to play these even though I already have the games, I might just 'borrow' them.

Artistically, MP1 was easily the most impressive game last gen. Technically it was probably bested by Halo 2. Anyway, it just makes me sad to think what MP3 could have been on better hardware (well, forgetting the fact that it sucked gameplay wise compared to MP1).

*snore*

Really? MP3's gameplay was much improved over MP1. It took the good elements and worked on the tedious aspects.

Mostly, yes.
Vastely better balanced, less backtracking, better storytelling and a hell of a lot more varience in its gameplay. (Not to mention the annoying scanning system in the first game vs the others.)

However, MP1 *did* have a more interesting gun system. The lack of choice in weapons in Prime3 was a weakpoint.

Just about everything else improved.

I found myself backtracking far more in MP3 than MP1. MP1 had large, beautiful lands connected by the odd elevator.

MP3 was full of going to the same linear places over and over and the spaceship sequences which lasted forever got annoying.

MP3 had too much focus on action and less on exploration which I missed from MP1&2.

Still a great game though.

I always end up ranting too much when MP1 and 3 are mentioned. Smilie

MP3 sucked because the environments were fuck awful. The idea of going between planets is not Metroid. MP1 had loads of awesome little links between areas and the whole world felt connected. They made it worse in MP2 by making a hub area, and then proceeded to fuck it up completely in MPH and MP3. Plus the areas with other people in them were just laughably bad.

Like I keep saying, lame attempts to mainstream the series. At least they took the awful FPS wannabe multiplayer out of MP3.

I wouldn't say they were linear, they were quite interconnected. The fact that you could go to any point of a planet from any other was proof of that. The flight mechanic was very good in it reduced a lot of excessive backtracking.

What? I thought the environments were a hell of a lot more interesting this time round. Instead of your standard, earth, fire and ice, you got these new locals. The 2nd planent looked amazing, tribal in many areas. Also the chained moons in the background. Then you had Elyssia, which was breathtaking.

I Strongly disagree, I like the fact we can travel between planets, and it was easier to find where you left off in comparison to the other games. The art direction in MP3 was excellent. the atmosphere was prob not as good as Echoes, but the interactive environment and gameplay were awesome. I thought there was nothing casual about it, no attempt to "mainstream" the series, I think people get overboard with that statement just like they do by saying "all Nintendo does is casual games" when they've only released 1 casual game so far keep in mind that Wiifit, Wiiplay and Wiisports are more like demo's than anything else.

If MP3 was supposed to go mainstream they would've advertised the hell out of it like Wiifit. They didn't because they knew their Hardcore (yuck) crowd knows about the game.

I'm really looking forward to this because of the controls mainly. I have it on my GC but I loved MP3 controls so much that I would buy it again like I did for RE4. Smilie
