Confirmed Roster and more details from the recent edition of Famitsu:

Famitsu Translations and Images!
Tons of Info and Starting Roster Revealed!

I was just emailed by one of my reliable contacts from Japan, Kashikomarimashita (the guy who gaves us the CoroCoro scans both times), and he bought the latest Famitsu magazine. Here's some images, and below them is what was said in the magazine:

# Final Destination is now 100% completely confirmed.
# The ordering for character weight that was shown a few days ago lists the percentages that it takes to KO that character with Mario's Side Smash from the center of Final Destination.
# The best three attacks listed for each character tell which attacks have the most knockback, and what percentage they can KO Mario from the center of Final Destination.
# Wall Clinging is confirmed.
# All of the smashes listed are uncharged.
# Mario can be KO'd at 17% by a fully charged side smash from King Dedede. So from the characters we know, Dedede's fully charged Side Smash is the most powerful move in the game.
# The Pokemon Trainer's pokemon all get fatigued at about 2 minutes, even if you dont move them. They all show visible signs of fatigue: Charizard lowers his head and wings. Squirtle drops his front hands to the ground. Ivysaur's bulb withers.
# The Fanmitsu magazine confirms the starting roster is the 23 characters on the Dojo. (minus Snake and Sonic, and including Zero Suit Samus and Sheik)
# Once fatigued, a Pokemon becomes much slower.
# If you do an aerial block the precise moment before you are hit by an opponent, it will reverse the attack.
# The game allows you to access the rules menu directly from the character select screen.
# When Sheik attacks with certain items such as the Star Rod and Beam Sword, she swings upward twice with a single motion.
# The damage percentages were determined in training mode against a dummy CP and do not take DI in to account.
# Wario's bite can swallow and destroy items and projectiles thrown at him. Everytime he does this, he takes 6% damage.
# The magazine makes no mention of being able to start as Zero Suit Samus at the start of a match.

Here is the Character Info:

Exactly. Not to mention the only 3 newcomer secret characters would be 1 Pok

wait where is this video?

The video shows the starter roster, and the theory goes that secret characters slide into place when you unlock them. The same theory suggests that ROB, Wolf and Lucario will be the only 3 secret newcomers.

Also
Lucario
did i miss something

Probably yeah, you missed the part where Nintendo accidentally confirmed Lucario, Ness and Jigglypuff were playable. Smilie

Well i don't know where the link is but i've heard from my friend's brother (who is sad and lives on Smash boards 14 hours a day) says that pictures have arised with Wolf, Ganondorf and Marth in them.

Well if he's exclusively been hanging around on SWF, then I think he's talking about the 35 roster including ROB.

SWF has been down most of the day, but it's up now and it doesn't seem like anything major has happened.

35 characters definitely sounds more and more realistic every day. I'll be very happy indeed if it's 40, but I don't think it will be.

He's probably not called Red because some fans may wish to beleive it's Ash. Ash is "based" on Red, but yeah, he should be called Red in Brawl Smilie

Although arguably, Red is the name for the character in the version, meaning the same look trainer could also be called Blue or Green, and in the remakes, the female could be called Red or Green too.

In the manga he's called Red, but the manga isn't very well known at all... and is incredibly rare. I guess it's because of the inconsistency for characters in Pok

Yeah, the manga is pretty inaccurate for some things, so it's not the most reliable source.

I'll give you that he's called Red in G/S, though funnily enough that guy is based on Ash, the team's iconic Pikachu says it all.

Hahah, true, true... Smilie

I guess the names are ambiguous as people just name the trainer themselves...
Although, the same could be said for Link. Smilie

( Edited on 26.01.2008 00:52 by Ikana )

Yeah, but Link has the same default name in every Zelda game, the manuals usually state his name, and his name is in the title of the 2nd Zelda game Smilie

EDIT: Very new stuff...

Japanese blog with Google translator... spoilers need to be highlighted, Engrish, but you get the point...

Ridley, Falco and Jigglypuff are mentioned as secret characters... credibility is the only thing that falls into question Smilie

Also, this was found on Brawl Central's forums:

Probably an easy fake, it shows ZSS as a base character, and Geno is there too. As I said, could easily be fake, but interesting nonetheless.

I take it you're not a part of the Smash Bros fan community? Smilie

Next to Megaman, Geno is definitely the most popular choice for a 3rd party inclusion compared to all other 3rd party chars, by far.

Twitter | C3 Writer/Moderator | Backloggery

Because Geno was one of the most picked characters chosen in the poll in Japan a year ago, When Sakurai asked what characters the Japanese people would like to see in Brawl.

mOojc said:

Yeah. And since then, his popularity has rocketed, for some really unknown and bizzare reason. Especially considering how obscure Mario RPG was, his popularity is really strange Smilie

Other incredibly popular choices I don't get are Claus from Mother 3, and Ridley :-/

Oh and BTW, Micaiah from FE Wii should be in Brawl, she looks cool and she would add to the lacking amount of females in Smash Bros Smilie

Twitter | C3 Writer/Moderator | Backloggery

I understand that boys, but in EU & US I doubt many people know who he is?!?!

You're joking right, Ridley is one of the most recognised characters from the Metroid universe! But Geno on the other hand he's not that popular, I bet only a few thousand or less in America have played the game, it wasn't even released on EU, so it's only popular with Japanese players!
But to put Geno in the game and leave Falco out, that is a crime and if that happens Sakurai should be spat on!!!

I honestly think people just like him for the sake of it. Geno is only really well known amongst the Smash community- the internet.

Well, he's INCREDIBLY well known (infamous?) in the Smash Bros community because of his amazing fan following. Nearly every Smash Bros fan will know him because of this alone, and otherwise he is still more recognisable worldwide than Lucas.

I really dont understand how ridley would play out though.

But then again, they're giving charizard a full blown control scheme.
