No, official, I can promise you that.
OMG!!!!!! Please Nintendo bring Metroid to Europe at the same time. Or earlier even.
Yay, finally some dates.
Should give me enough time to save enough money for a Wii. Hopefully we'll find out SSB's launch date tomorrow, that just leaves Mario Galaxy for us to speculate over. We'd better get PAL dates soon.
August? Strange....
Wow, I never expected it to be this soon. Looks like the Wii's dry days will be over in a few months.
At least for a little bit.

1 game doesnt end a dry spell...
Oh HELL yes. Probably September here, then!
Good idea, maybe 2 will! :3
Certainly 2 awesome games is better than 1 decent game per month
Thanks Mr T. I'm always skeptical about things that sound too good to be true, so you've put my mind at ease.
As for an August release, I expect we'll see mid September here in Europe. Although we had to wait a while for the first Prime, Echoes came out at almost the same time in EU and US.
August might seem odd to some, but Metroid is about as close as Nintendo get to a 'hardcore' gamer's game, so the usual 'Summer games don't sell' line doesn't really apply.

I think it'll do well, those who want it will get it one way or another, plus my bro's B-Day is in August, so for him at least Summer games do sell!
Just seems like an odd time to release what they would claim to be a AAA title. Having said that, it does mean that Galaxy and SSBB are more likely to launch this year. More likely the former than the latter though
Never thought Metroid & Mario would be ready before SSBB, but it seems like it'll be that way.
All games will be awesome, Metroid probably less so (I'm doubting I'll like it unless Kraid & Mother Brain are in it... & there might actually be Metroids in it this time. Can you believe it? A Metroid game with Metroids in it?)
Perhaps an August release for Nintendo's FPS (FPA, whatever) so as not to get swallowed up by the Halo 3 hype machine?

Seriously, do they do this on purpose? The Halo VS Metroid thing will start all over again.
Hate to admit it, but Halo is definitely better than Metroid Prime. I hope MP3 can prove me wrong.
Their are some very big titles in that list including Madden 08 which will be improved on the original. That could sell a few million more Wii's if done right. They also will release the game before Halo3 in september which may help sales furthur. LS

That all depends on your definition of a good game. Not fond of straightforward FPS, hate online multi-player and have no time for pseudo-intelligent pretentious sci-fi storylines. Thus, I don't rate Halo.
However, I do like games involving exploration and puzzle solving, and I love the vast, isolated, lonely worlds of the Prime games. I'm sure Prime 3 will have plenty of those first two, but I fear the the sense of isolation will be gone (based on those space station videos we've seen). Hope I'm wrong on that count.
Right now all I need is some amazing stuff to be announced for next year, and decent UK equivalents of these dates, and I might get a Wii about September.
Dr_R said:Yeah, it all depends on what you're into, I found MP2E incredibly repetetive, & I can't remember a single occasion where there was a nice 2D Metroid style puzzle in there, all I remember is jumping & falling, & single sticking & shooting & dying & then jumping & falling & single sticking then shooting then getting a power up then jumping then being 1 room away from a save room & dying again.

Also, the multiplayer on MP2E was what I though as a pathetic wannabe add on. Super Metroid shoulda been unlockable instead.
I dunno why, but MP1 was just way better than MP2 (MPH doesn't even come close to either...)
& what's weirder, is that I used to completely bum Metroid. Infact I still love the 2D ones to bits, I just physically can't like MPH or MP2.
EDIT: Got a rant out of my system, thank you for being patient

I loved both, but Metroid Prime offered me a different experience than most other FPS. The first Prime was better overall in my opinion, but I could say why people may not like it. It is not for everyone.
Hey rant away Superlink (I often do too).
I'm actually only right at the beginning of MP at the moment. Echoes was the first one I played, which might be part of the reason why I rate it much more highly than other people seem to. The multi-player was gash though.
I actually found the jumping in Prime 2 really effective. Didn't fall down much at all. The savepoints were a bit sparse though.
My favourite aspect of the Prime games has been the morphball puzzle sections. They're like little self contained puzzle games. Sometimes it feels like you've bought a shooter, but got marble madness for free. Can't praise these bits highly enough.
The only things Metroid Prime and Halo in common are the perspective and and that they're both sci-fi. That's very little.
MP and MP2 were by far the best big games on the Gamecube, I absolutely loved both of them. I'll be pissed off if MP3 is even slightly dumbed down, I probably won't buy it.
I'm thinking that MP3 will be the best one, mainly because I hate single stick shooters, so the Wii controls will be awesome. Also I hope the graphics look nice too. I don't know what I want from the game, I guess I want it to be more like the 2D ones, story & gameplay wise. I dunno, there's so much to like about the games, but I just can't!
Except Metroid Prime Hunters. I didn't find much to like about that.
