I would've though C3 know this more than anyone, but Sonic isn't a series that's reknowned for it's Story. Sure the story is lame, but it's the best Sonic game since SA2.

I really loved the Sonic Adventure series compared to newer games too.

Hell, fuck the story. Did the originals for the Mega Drive ever have any kind of story. Robotnik is being evil, you ahve to stop him. When they started to focus on the story, that's when it started to get bad. SatSR focuses on speed, so hopefully it should be slightly more back to its roots, but I'm still not being too hopeful.

Exactly, so other than the story there is being maybe a little worse than no story at all (lol) I don't see the problem with that.

I always heard people complaining about the Sonic Adventure games' stories... I thought they were fine to be honest. Certainly better than the original games, and I loved the way they were all interlinked in the first Sonic Adventure. It's definitely gone downhill though...

After spending a bit of time on the game, I now think that Secret Rings IS better than all other 3D sonics.

The story isn't as good as the adventure games but the controls more than make up for that. The missions are fun (although I have yet to get more than bronze on any mission)

I also like the music It's not fantastic but good enough. The graphics are beautiful, a level all wii games should at least be.

I give it a 8/10 based on what I've played so far.

I honestly believe that if SEGA made a sequel by correcting the wrongs of SATSR and having a better story, then it could turn out to be the greatest Sonic game ever. I really do. Smilie

It's definitely an "aquired" taste in music. If the sequel had betetr music & better story, it'd truly kick OoT's ass. *hides*

I agree with quote number 1 since the music is alright, if a little cheesey. Apart from the jungle level (2nd quote) there's only so much "Dino, in the Jungle." "Dino, In the Jungle" you can take. Finally, 3rd quote, I suppose it is acquired taste but it still reeks of cheese.

If the soundtrack is as bad as Oasis, then I don't want to play this game with the sound up.

If anything, thats the only thing thats keeping this fairly alright....just me...ok...just me.

Its fucking fustrating. I thought maybe my controller is running out of batteries...nope

Maybe my controller is fucked...checks with other games...nope

Maybe Sonic and The Secret Rings is fucking donkey shit...yup

Wow, its so replayable...no its not, its fucking fustratatingly homosexual. Thats right, i used the word homosexual in a negative tone. Sue me.

Its like Sega/Sonic team thought that playing the same level over and over again is fun. Sure sometimes it could be, but playing the same level over and over again because of the shitness of control design leads you to keep using trial and error until you can get the method right. Arggggggghhh.

Whats annoying me even more....

i cant stop playing it

I used to love Sonic during the Megadrive era (I played it for the first time at my haidresser's place Smilie), but I have to say that the 3D Sonic games never completely convinced me.
I'm playing Sonic Adventure 1 at this very moment, and while I found and still find it cool, the fantastic atmosphere I feel in the 2D Sonic episodes is not here anymore :/.
Plus, there are too many of this moments where you have the (holy) DreamCast gamepad in your hands and just watch Sonic do the job for you... You know, when there are a hundred bumpers and loopings...

And really, those cameras are awful Smilie. Though, I have absolutely no problem with the story, I don't care at all, this is not Chrono Trigger, it's Sonic =).

Exactly, story means zilch in Sonic! It's quite novel (haha pardon the pun)so why not?

Annoying thing for me is replaying till you know it by heart but then again Sonic's basically been that way for a long time now!

The main song is a classic! How can you guys not like it?Smilie Seven rings in handddddddd!

Piiiiii...ka.....SUEEEEEEE!

I would prefer there to be no story at all rather than the bollocks they serve me! I mean its stupid....

Maybe they could make a modern 3d style of sidescrolling. Ala jungle beat styleeee

Yes, if they did that I would probably have sex with the disk. I might have to break it a bit, but it would be worth it. Bongos and everything, I think it'd be awesome.

Just me or is the music to Levitated Ruin some of the best music in a Sonic game since the Mega Drive titles? Excellent level, too!

I think that was the music I liked aswell, but the level gives me nothing but grief. On the one where you have to survive through the whole level, there's this spiked ball right infront of a jump pad and I just can't get to it. It's made worse when those tunnels are so glitchy to begin with.

I'm really enjoying the powering up aspect though, at first it was a little slow but now I'm getting boosts from simply jumping Smilie

I find that there are those moments in each level, so if you accept those it was good to me. Most frustrating part of the game so far has been the race in Dinosaur Jungle.

Christ that was fuckin awful! Really really hard, there wasn't really any clear area to use the speed dash either which didn't help. Manage to do it though! only after about 40 bazilllion times!

It was awful, just ended up having to memorise a path. I have it burnt into my brain now.

Boost, homing jumps, dodge cacti, run down dinosaur, swerve right, turn in left after third cactus, run over switch, run over boost, hold right to dodge ball, sharp left, sharp right, jump over chests, jump and boost forward, homing attack three enemies, land on grind rail, jump off grind rail, homing attack enemies until end.

Hated it. Had to do it so many times.

On a more positive note, this game gets so much better as it goes along. Skeleton Dome, woo! I'm warming to the music in some of the levels, too.

Argh!! I really want it SO BADLY!! >.<

It just hasn't arrived yet! Oh well... not that I'd have much time to play it anyway...

It's actually quite glitchy with the speed break in places. On Levitated Ruin's "finish in 90 seconds" you can use a speed break on the ledge above the first blocked door and either go straight through, skipping the dorr, or fly vertically upwards. Really peculiar.

So far, I've just done the first Pirate Lagoon mission and really enjoyed it. Having played it again today, I think Secret Rings is better when you play it in bits and when Sonic really stars pedaling (sp?).
