That's bullcrap. For me, if i DL something its because its not worth buying or the money that is being charged. So if I didnt download it, I still wouldnt buy it - so no money is being taken away. God damn these tards.

I emulate but if I had a Wii and some spare cash, I'd download games for the VC. For me there's something about playing a game on a console which is unrivalled. Doesn't match even if you have a gamepad for your computer.

I've played a LOT. Aside from a couple of classics(Mario Bros series), there are some games with somewhat enjoyable gameplay like Lolo's adventure(if you like puzzle games), but then the technical limitations bring it down severely...listen to the music. Most of it is just not fun to play anymore, and I guess it was just fun to us then because we weren't used to anything better videogame-wise.

I know what I should do! Once I've finished downloading, I'll play every single one and give a percentage of what games are still enjoyable to play. And give examples of real spectacular ones.

Reminds me actually... I should see if I can beat my 15 second record on Silver Surfer. That's a game I'd like to see on VC. It'd be a little bit easier with a control pad like the one it was originally played with. But not easy of course.

The only game I emulate is Bionic Commando, it's just so fun Apart from that, I've also been playing a load of Chrono Trigger lately. Robot= teh win.

Yes, because a state-of-the-art piece of image editing software, which the aforementioned company basically makes a living off of, is directly comparable to ten/twenty year old games that have long since past their sell-by-date, and have been sitting getting ever dustier in people's attics, until the big corporations thought they'd cash-in on all this emulation lark

It's different but Adobe isn't loosing money from teenagers pirating it because I will bet money if they couldn't pirate they wouldn't buy it anyway. Any legit business that uses Photoshop needs to buy it if they don't want to get busted.

True, but I don't think that's what Knighty was implying. There are decent freeware alternatives, however. GIMP0 for advanced photo-editing, and the fucking amazing Blender for 3D modelling. I use both. They may take a little getting used to, but you can do pretty much anything on them that you can do on the 'professional' programs. Especially Blender. How they can offer that completely free after all the work that must've gone into that, I don't know.

It isn't a linux thing.

Linux is an O.S. created under the GPL, as is FreeBSD. There are others as well.

The GPL basically means that the Source code is released openly so that other coders can contribute and thus help the code advance. Linux has improved so much due to Geek Pride, there is no better brag than contributing to linux code.

The other thing to take into account is that most of the programs created under the GPL are financed by donations, and rarely, such as with certain flavours of the Linux (i,e, Redhat) through the technical support.

However, the code of GPL products tends to hae certain instabilities, and the programs themselves tend to lean towards being Nerd friendly over User friendly. The GIMP, whislt a wonderful little program, and me parted ways after I outlined a Sneasel I drew and nearly tossed by laptop across the room in frustration with the effort required to use the damn thing. Paint Shop Pro allowed me to do the 5 hours task in 20 Minutes.

But in 95% of cases, the Commercial product will be better than the open source equivalent becasuse open source coders simply can't expend the resources required for some products.

I can't however speak about Blender, Do you know if it can create the models used by Total Annihilation?
