No, it's always on for the remote. Fools We're not advaced enough to make products that can actually turn on using a remote

Well its not as though the thing will be impossible to turn it off; you can just unplug it I guess.

Oh right....why does it have to be connected online though? Unless online means somthin diffrent now :/.
Hmmm personally I doubt that it's online when "off", since this "off" is essentially standby, so would only be maintaining enough power to be able to pick up the remote.
Probably just to cut out the constant need for signing in and out of the online service.
I hope the controller comes with something to be recharged with, rather than having to buy it separately.
What do you mean ALWAYS online even when off...so we can play online without wireless broadband
$250...Way higher than what people were expecting...We heard it being as low as $100...but obviously that won't happen...Well it is still cheaper that a 360 or a PS3(freaking hypocrites

Well obviously, but the point is that most won't bother and it's a pain. There should at least be a proper buton on the back like the PS2 has.
I don't see how a button on the back is any less of a pain.
$250 comes out to be around 350 Australian dollars for anyone who was wondering. Although the VC does seem a little more expensive than I first thought, around AU$15 for a SNES game. Good to see Smash Brothers out at release, disappointing to have to wait until next year to get Metroid Prime 3 though. I'll reserve my comment on TP until I see the new shots.

A lightsaber battle would be too easy. In the movies they swing and twirl, but lets be honest people, a cheeky stab in the foot is the smart option
When you say always online, you mean as long as you have the power socket in, how can it be online if you don't have the power socket in!
Also, it can't be online all the time of you don't have internet, unless it automatically connects to your phone line, & that would be cool!
yay! Information1
I've heard quite a lot of ramblings regarding $250 price tag rumour. Some are already dissing it, mostly the main reason being "with that spec I'm not paying more than 150".
Once again, I see the symptom of the last 10 years, where people have learned to judge the value of a computer purely based on the microchip. This is truly sad.
To be honest I don't know how much the controllers cost. I also think 200 is a good price point if Nintendo wants to keep it truly accessible to everyone. But the hardware argument seems misguided particularly when they (well, the general public) haven't even experienced the gameplay aspect of Wii.
Or does this mean gameplay aspect no longer matters? I don't know. I'm not sure any more.
Anyone know how much sepereate controllers or shells will cost?
& will this bitch need memory cards, if so, then how much?
will this bitch need memory cards
if it does, its shit.
I think there will be some sort of memory card.
There has to be some form of robust storage. It won't be a HD, so surely isn't it logical to assume that it will be some form of memory card?
What? It takes SD cards, that was known since last year.

Oh yeah. Yes, thanks. It's been on the spec page all along.
