Final Fantasy VII Scenario Writer Assists Smash Bros. Brawl

Quick News: The fourth installment of the Iwata Asks Sakurai reveals the initial concepts behind the adventure mode in Smash Bros Brawl, the Subspace Emissary. Sakurai reveals the building blocks for the mode's storyline, including working alongside famed scenario writer Kazushige Nojima-san (of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts fame).

Nah Terra is boring and would just be an odd choice, it would have to be mainstay character thats in the game all he time like a toneberry, chocobo, or cactaurs etc.

Doubt any Square character will get into it in the end though.

First off, A star for iFrit for having such an amazing Avatar... Tomba is one of my all time fav's... Second, IF and I mean IF (because lets face it there is an extremely low chance of any Square characters appearing in brawl) the most obvious choice would be at least something on a Nintendo system... The only obvious choices would be Chrono from Chrono Trigger, A character from Super Mario RPG... (Geno or Mallow) or maybe a Moogle or Chocobo(which would be like yoshi except for eggs and a long tounge). I could name a few other games from Square that were on Nintendo but if you don't know what they are do you think they even have a chance. nope

i don't think any square-enix characters will appear on brawl. and if there is another 3rd party character it'll probably be megaman, or even ryu from street fighter.

First of all, I HOPE (but don't think) there will be another 3rd party character. I mainly want Bomberman, but I'd settle for Megaman.

Geno is overpopular, but if it was Square then he would be the obvious choice.

Yeah, If there's another 3rd party character, I want Bomberman. Smilie I guess Rayman might be OK aswell, but he hasn't had much of a presence on Nintendo formats...
I wouldn't be too thrilled with Megaman, but only because I've never played a Megaman game before. Smilie

If it's something stupid like Pacman, I'll kill myself. >.<

Besides, who cares about the story? Here's a nightmare situation:

Nintendo are planning a game called Super Mario Galaxy, Princess Peach has been kidnapped, which is simply really bad and cliched, but it's in space.

Oh wait, it's already out, and it's GOTM (Game of the Millenium Smilie )

Basically, I don't care about the story, personally I think it looks quite good, but Pit finding and meeting up with Mario is definitely the stuff that dreams are made of.

And lets think about it for a sec. Mario games aren't about the story. There's only one there so you aren't meaninglessly collecting things.

However, a "Story Mode" in a game needs to have a proper story, otherwise what's the point in having one at all?

Be honest with yourself, if you've seen the SSE vids, the storyline will be the LAST thing you think of when you play this game, I'm sure "a dream cross of platformer and 2D fighter with an incredible cast" is what you're more likely to think. Smilie

A dream cross of platformer and 2D fighter with an incredible cast it might be, but if the storyline annoys the tits off me then I won't play it. Regardless of whether it actually matters or not, if they put it in then it has to be good, otherwise I'll just say, "fuck this", because if it's like it's just shoehorned in then it'll annoy me greatly.

From the trailers we've seen, I don't think the story will be that bad. It end up a bit cliche, but I don't really mind, at least we don't have the school storyline anymore. Smilie
