Nintendo Wii Media | Smash Update: Pikmin & Olimar Join the Brawl!

In an exciting update on the Smash Bros. Dojo today, Captain Olimar and his trusty Pikmin join the battle!

Goodness! Captain Olimar joins the fray with five colors of Pikmin in tow! He plucks Pikmin from the ground and they fight as his allies.

Without Pikmin, Olimar can't even do a Smash Attack. And the short-lived Pikmin tend to scatter. Theirs is a fated symbiotic relationship.

Choosing Pikmin music is a rather difficult thing to do. In trying to find a song that would be remembered by those who played the game...

I thought about areas that everyone would visit when starting and ending play, and thus chose this song.

Its arrangement came together in a smooth and lovely way. It conveys the remarkable Pikmin world. It's nice.

No EU or AUS release date yet... it likely won't get here until May or June.

It's simply craptastic.

And yeah, I want Animal Crossing Guy in, though I'd prefer Tom Nook. Annoyingly enough, Nook is on Smashville already isn't he? Smilie

Don't say things like that, wait with a bit more hope. MKWiI could play a role in this whole thing also, I mean if that comes out in the next two then I agree it could be as late as June Smilie .

I think that would be unforgivable without a game like MK Wii to soften the blow.

The thing is, most would agree that it's definitely the player's skill over the character's metagame. Although Mewtwo or Kirby have low Metagames, players who have mastered them can take on anyone and win just as easily as anyone could. At least that's what I believe.

Of course there are characters like Sheik and Peach, as soon as you get to a certain level of skill they become amazing and overpowered.

It is a tough call. Olimar or Ike?

Rumour has it (cause I am starting it) that both Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey are playable characters.

Smilie awesome as that would be, I simply don't think they're famous enough. Although I do have high hopes for a Phoenix Wright assist trophy!

Phoenix's OBJECTION!would knock opponents off the stage (and into the next video game!).

What a good update. Hopefully you're able to choose what combination of Pikmin you use. Imagine 5 purples, you'd be unstoppable but also very slow.

That would be cool, but I think he works like peach except less random. you'll do down B pull up a blue, then yellow, then red, then purple, and then white. I think the highest you can go to is 5 and they probaly fade from weakest to strongest when dieing off. Either way I love this character since he's bringing something so new and different to smash. His special totally pwns DeeDee's waddle Dees or whatever the hell they're called Smilie

I personally think their colour will be more random, so you have to use strategy to know when to use them all right, if you could choose you'd could use Purple all the time.

Maybe the Pikmin closest to Olimar's command will affect how he moves?

Red Pikmin = Better overall combat
Blue Pikmin = Better overall defense
Yellow Pikmin = More floaty and can dodge further (i.e. Mewtwo)
Purple Pikmin = Become heavyweight and deal lots of damage, but also take lots. (i.e. Bowser)
White Pikmin = Become lightweight and speed around delivering quick combos, but you're hit further easier. (i.e. Pichu)

Like many of the Olimar theories that have popped up over the day, this doesn't sound too unlikely, and could make for a very interesting match.

Yeah your theory is great, but what I'm saying is you maybe able to hold up to 5 pikmin and only have one of each color Smilie . I think if they give each one smash elements the character could be even greater. Red=fire, Blue=Ice, yellow=lightning, purple=dark, white=poison (Wasn't that what he did in Pikmin2? I never got to play that game Smilie ). If it works out like that in combination with your theory I would love that character so much Smilie .

As a flagship franchise for Capcom, the Mega Man series has garnered sales in excess of 26 million units worldwide.

And that article is nearly a year old! I think Capcom would get their priorities right for choosing who best to represent them...

@ JTangle - Yeah, White Pikmin was invunerable to, and helped out with Poison. Although Purple wasn't exactly dark, and didn't have any strengths, except it's strength that is. Smilie

where are all of our vetrans?!?! we now have as many newcomers as we do vetrans, which i don't have a problem with, but what about cFalcon, ness, pichu, mewtwo, young link, mr G&W, luigi, dr. mario, gannondorf, and for god sakes SHIEK!! they are leaving out a huge roster of characters, and i know some ppl have said that some won't be returning, but now im begiging to worry!!!! Well, a lot of Melee characters will be missing. All the clones except Luigi and Ganondorf (This means Young Link, Pichu, Dr Mario and maybe even Falco) so that's a fair few out of the way.

If the newcomers are the same number as the veterans, then won't it mean there are a lot more characters overall? Smilie

Wait Ihave another idea rather than white=poison what about white=Lipstick Smilie . It has the same effect that you would expect poison to have. So why not Smilie

This is the best update to date... The only thing i need confirmation of Gandondorf and this game will be better than any game in existance past-present-future....
