Nintendo Wii Media | Smash Update: Stafy and Waluigi Assist, Japanese Boxart

Nintendo has ended the week with a double-whammy of updates on the Official Smash Bros. brawl website. Two new assist trophies await!

Stafy


This character, the prince of the heavenly seas, appeared in the Japan-only release "Densetsu no Stafy." He's shaped like a star, but maybe he's really a starfish???

I'll do it! I'm doing it!

...He never says anything like that.

His body shines bright.

He boldly does a spin attack!

But...he's weak?

He's rare for an Assist Trophy, as he can be attacked.

Sometimes you may wonder "Stafy, why did you even come here?!" But that's part of his charm.

Owwwwwww!

Waluigi


The fact that he's an Assist Trophy means he won't be appearing as a playable character, but...

Waluigi appears nonetheless!

He dashes at foes...

He stomps on whoever he currently despises!

Characters that suffer his stomping get embedded in the dirt.

Waluigi keeps on stomping, punishing his foe persistently with successive blows. As should be expected from Waluigi.

He finishes with a mighty kick...

Or his tennis racket!

Never forget to finish off those who are helpless to resist. Such a philosophy should really be expected from Waluigi.

I don't get the boxart. It doesn't show all the starters, which is strange. However, it's more like the original Smash Bros boxart (which still showed all the starters.)

Today was both a bad and a good update.

Stafy should have been playable Smilie which is the bad half.

Waluigi is confirmed as non-playable Smilie that's the GREAT half. Smilie

So all in all, definitely a better than worse update for me.

Wait isnt that box shown quite a while back everyone was saying it was fake? I dunno what to believe...

I would think you would want to put Snake and Sonic on the box as selling points. Maybe they will be on the back.

Yeah, but you have to remember they're secret characters. I bet Sonic will be promoted with the game though.

I think the box is actually real now, it's on the Wiki page and everything.

Hooray for Waluigi not being playable! I only say that because there are other characters that deserve a playable spot a lot more than him... and he's annoying. The Japanese box art is okay.

The box art looks OK but it does not exactly scream best game ever. I thought it would be crammed with all the characters from front to back with all of them tightly knit together.

Stafy! Makes me think Nintendo and TOSE might just be giving the little Starfish another chance. Perhaps Densetsu no Stafy 5 will finally arrive...if it was on DS I'd be happy, but WiiWare or a full Wii game would be fantastic as well Smilie

Waluigi is a NON-PLAYABLE CHARACTER??!!! *sobs convulsively* I was really hoping he was going to be a playable character. *sigh* Waluigi's the frick'n man.

I'm really surprised Starfy is in it. That's awesome news, at least.

Sometimes simplicity is the bet way to go. Smilie

I think Stay should have been playable because he's the main character of his own series, which is popular in Japan, and it looks liek a lot of fun too Smilie

Rather have Stafy than LUCAS. If Lucas was a Sonic the Hedgehog character, he'd be called "Lucas The Twathead"

Just because he's just another Mario clone, doesn't mean he wouldn't be an awesome addition to the Smash roster, with crazy moves and what not. I still think he would have made a great fighter to play...SmilieSmilie
