Japanese Sales | Zelda Phantom Hourglass Boosts DS

By Adam Riley 29.06.2007 48

Update - The latest chart data has now been revealed and it shows that The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on Nintendo DS has been a massive success in just a short time. What needs to be remembered is that the chart data below does not reflect the full weekend of sales for Zelda. The chart is normally compiled by Media Create from Thursday's new releases (Zelda launched on Saturday alongside two new DS colours) up until the end of play on Saturday. Oh deah Smilie

The Zelda series has never been milked, this is a full fledged adventure. It may have been milked a little with the Four Swords, but now we have a full fledged adventure sequel to a brilliant game, & this sequel sounds brilliant too. It even has a little WiFi mulitplayer extra because Nintendo are so nice, even if we won't play it, it's there.

I think they missed a great opportunity for some four swords multi player, shame we just get some tag thing instead Smilie.
Anywho Is the multi player 2 or 4 player?

I will let Simon confirm or deny here, but I am pretty sure the multiplayer is 2 player, Blade. And I am really looking forward to it, seems fun.

Well Zelda is back in Japan.

Yep multiplayer is only 2 player -Link vs 3 armoured knights, taking it in turns to take triforce pieces or protect them- i have no friends on my list but i can't confirm the voice thing - but i'm 99.99999% certain that the translation claiming it did was totally wrong (i couldn't find the words voice chat, or talk or anything that might suggest it)....love to have voice chat though.

Aonuma confirmed that it did not have voice chat, and that he thought it was more fun to acknowledge the tactical moves of your opponent by play alone. While Voice Chat can be fun it can also be a distraction sometimes. [LS]

As if... he just hiding the fact that they couldn't be bothered putting it in. Not that I care though, the single players is looking swell!

He just couldn't be bothered is what's more likely. Smilie

Seriously, I don't get this kind of laziness. The system is perfectly capable of chat out of the box. Why not?

Well, I never use/don't like voice chat anyway... ^^;

But it's best to have the option I suppose.

Yeah like when trading i can hear someone moaning stuff like "but thats my pokemon!! *cry*" in the background...made me laugh.

I don't see why this game has effectively outsold Twilight Princess already, no matter what you think about LOZ:TP it was a great game.

Though this game does has the whole Wind Waker nostalgia, which i am all up for.

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

I don't get it either CC, no matter what way you cut it, TP was a great game. In my mind, it is incredible, but even the most disappointed have to agree that it is good. Just a shame the way it has sold.

Perhaps its the platform. Just about anything with a decent name will sell a bundle on the DS.

Really? I could understand that with strangers, but with friends it is so much better to have voice communication. As it is I have to get all my friends on the phone and set it to speaker.

Well yeah, Voice Chat is cool with people I know in r/l, but I don't really know that many people in r/l with the voice chat games I have >.<

Well you might, and then you'll be disappointed when you have to deal with complete silence, or you will have to juggle the phone along with the system. Smilie

Actually the silence calms my nerves 'cos I always have my family telling me to do chores & stuff, & I don't want the people I'm talking to with voice chat hearing me shouting "OK I'll do it in a minute!!" Smilie

Twitter | C3 Writer/Moderator | Backloggery

You need to get your ducks in a row BEFORE online sessions. That way mom isn't yelling: "THE GARBAGE IS FULL JOSH! GET DOWN HERE NOW!" Smilie

Why do you resist in-game chat anyway? Communication is only good. And if you would prefer silence, then you can likely turn it off. It is win win only, in my opinion. Smilie

I just wish they would use it more.

Yeah, I think the option is good, but I usually only use it with people I know in real life anyway.

If I turn it on though, I have to rush to the quietest room of my house or I'll get a lot of background noise Smilie

That's why I need a headset I guess. The official headset is coming out with Pok

Twitter | C3 Writer/Moderator | Backloggery

I always play in my room, so don't have trouble with background noise. And so that conversation is mine and not the rest of the houses, I use headphones.

But yes, the full headphone / mic headset is out with Pokemon. Supposedly though it isn't the best option available though.

Lame, I don't wanna have to go through tons of 3rd party products, becaue 9/10 of them suck...

Well, I have a brother, & we always play games together, so that's where I have the problem. I don't really feel like saying "Shut up for a few minutes now, I'm on voice chat" ^^;

I really hope Itadaki Street sells so well it can't be overlooked for translation!

Nice to see Chibi-Robo getting a decent score as well. And I really hope we get .hack on DS, but signs are pointing to Tail Concerto instead.

Trusty Bell has disappeared of course, though Saints Row is in there...weird.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Nice to see RE4 holding on and a great boost for the DS!

That RE4 place is very good considering how many GC versions sold their. Just seen the U,K Ad, much better than the japanese version. [LS]
