Good, but not really unexpected from a company saleing the games.
"greater value in backtracking," huh? That sure sounds promising...
Along with the other improvements (in graphics and controls), this game is shaping up to be one of the year's best! I've already pre-ordered it, so now I just have to wait.
On the back tracking issue, one minor gripe that people leveled at the previous games was the environments felt baron and inactive when you had to to do so. If that's been rectified that will be great for the game as despite Metroid's success I imagine many were put off by this, along with along with that feeling of solitude that the game had also. Personally I loved that feeling of geniune exploration, even though it was void of enemy interaction in long spells. If this game will indeed play more like a classic FPS, along with being compared to others, it also needs to have ememy NPCs in abundance. The visor switch controls implimented sound nice, certainly much better than the D pad could offer. [LS]

Visor switch Hold minus and flick Wii-remote in different directions.
Quite a smart idea, i wonder if the + button and direction will do anything?

Features larger environments, bloom lighting and improved textures over past Prime titles.
Could there be a better environment than Phendrana Drifts?

Back tracking has greater value over previous titles.
I don't why everyone hated back-tracking, it was great, whether you got a new gun or visor, it allowed you get to an Energy Tank, Missile expansion etc.

Halo wasn't revolutionary.

Well somtimes when it required you to go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over from one side of the map to the other it got pretty tedious, especially when looking for stuff that wasn't indicated on the map like that last bit in Echos >_<.
I thought they'd make Visor switching something like holding the nunchuk up to your head (Maybe moving the analogue stick as well). That's the way Samus does it ^^;
I just hope it works well... Motion controls are prone to just not happening occasionally and not changing visors when you want could be annoying. Not as bad as not changing beams though. Hopefully that'll be done with the D-Pad
^^^ Weapons are stacked, so you don't need to switch between them.
But the Ridley boss battle looks so badass and at the end of the day thats what counts.

Yep, only nerds care about minor continuity errors.
Awsome, OMG OMG OMG... RIDLEY the first BOSS *i wet myself*
I cant wait for this game, i fucking LOVE Samus and PRIME /2 were fucking awsome
IMO... Ridley as first boss is so anticlimatic... I bet the rest of the bosses are filler characters

Ridley fight at end of vid (I thinks, couldn't be arsed to watch it), although whether that'll be the first or have changed it completely I have no idea.
Hmm, the biggest revolution since Halo?? That's a really big call. We'll see...
I do hope the graphics will wow me a little. Nice to gear that the environments will be bigger. Some of the areas in the previous games were pretty small.
Nah, it just says Play describe it as a FPS. I doubt Retro would want anyone calling it a shooter or a Halo killer, because it definitely isn't.

I know that they're all in Super Metroid. & I don't hate Metroid games, I just hate Metroid Prime 2 & Hunters, they're so boring & have nothing to do with Metroid, they're just "cool" games to mainstream the series & make it darker than it already is (Dark Samus... what more can I say?)
Metroid Prime remained true to the 2D games, which I loved. It was even related to them. Prime 2 on the other hand was one big backtrack. OMG There's this cool place with these smart creatures who are endangered JUST LIKE CHOZO... & now I get to retrace my exact steps & backtrack 5000 times in the SAME PLACE except now it's all purple! What fun!
& don't even get me started on Hunters. Metroid Prime. WTF. It doesn't have ANYTHING to do with Metroid Prime. It doesn't have anything to do with Metroid, except Samus is in it, & an overly powered Space Pirate who can split into 2 parts. Yeeeey They may as well have called it "Samus & friends have a fight in space" because it has nothing to do with Metroid, it's just a title to sell the game.
& there are no continuity errors in Zelda, no huge ones that I've noticed. Mainly because 9/10 Zelda games are based in entirely different times in the Zelda Universe.[/rant]
Sorry ^^; Metroid is a touchy subject with me nowadays... For me Retro & Nintendo are ruining it, I hope they release a proper Metroid V to supress my worries. & it had better be awesome like Zero Mission, & Metroid II & Fusion.
I could never enjoy the Metroid Prime games, no matter how much I wanted to. (Hey, you want your mileage from 40 quid, right?)
Its probably FP Shooting games in general. Now I think about it, I haven't enjoyed one since goldeneye. Nope, not even Halo(overhyped).
It's really wierd, because I lvoe 2D Metroid so much, infact Metroid used to be my favourite series, hands down, but then they made Metroid Prime 2. I love Metroid, but I just COULDN'T ENJOY MP2:E. It got rid of everything I liked about 2D Metroids (except Samus ), like Metroids having a big part in the story... actually having a good story, backtracking that doesn't suck, being able to go moderately fast, & not being first person. The things I liked about 2D Metroids >.>
First person IMO ruins Metroid, worst thing is it's single stick, my worst enemy when it comes to Shooting games. I was thinking Metroid Prime 3 might solve my problem with it's play style, but now I'm seeing the game being a bleak mainstream title, with new characters & in game dialogue with NPCs. Lame D:
There's only so many times we can say that the Prime series is not a shooter.
@Superlink. Fair enough, I've not actually played MP2 so I can't comment but I've never liked the whole dark/light worlds in any game. But I agree with everything you said in that post except for this
& there are no continuity errors in Zelda, no huge ones that I've noticed. Mainly because 9/10 Zelda games are based in entirely different times in the Zelda Universe.[/rant]
Come on, the whole timeline virtually retcons itself. That doesn't make any of the games worse, just confusing when you look at it more generally. Oh, you also forgot to mention how completely awesome Super Metroid is.
EDIT: I disagree, MP3 is looking as awesome as ever. The whole aspect of heaps of new characters does take a lot from the hype for me though an is probably where you're coming from when you say mainstream.

I've never played Super Metroid
it's by far my most wanted retro game of all time, I crave playign it more than I crave playing FFVII, because I havn't played that before either. I had it & a SNES, but my SNES broke & I don't remember ever playing it. So I really want it, if it comes out on VC the same week as MP3:C does, then I'll thank tha game for something
& I've done a lot of research into the Zelda timeline. It killed a few hours of my life, but everything fits into place eventually
