Update - Both games' media folders have been updated with a heap of new screens courtesy of Jeux France. Check them out below:

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles

Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition

In addition to this, some new information on The Umbrella Chronicles has been uncovered.

The game is set to be a a shooter; will be fully polygonal, meaning no no pre-rendered backgrounds; and will have a special command for close enemy encounters, similar to the one found in Resident Evil 4. When this takes place, it seems the action will move into a first-person perspective to add a more cinematographical air to the proceedings during battles. Finally, apparently the shooter approach is being taken because there are critics who have labelled previous Resident Evil games too boring and repetitive. [ Thanks to Modplan Man for the tip ]

If it were to get a version of resi 5 then the wii would be known for port of other consoles. This looks great I wanted something different from a series thats why resi 4 was so good. This game isn't even past 25% completion yet. But I wouldn't right it off. Also this is good to see on rail shooters back I loved them when I was in arcades

It's only 25% complete and even then the vast majority of polish comes right at the end of development, it looks like it's on the right tracks to being a awesome shooter. LS

they should have demanded a down rezed version of RE 5, not this crap.

:O Resident evil 5 out for wii and 360 hmmm which do i get hmmm... 360 version of course! and so the Wii version bombs...

It would be a really silly idea to do that, I like the way there doing a ground up title for the Wii means i get 2 different resident evil experiences.

I like the looks of it from what we have seen, but I'm a little disappointed if it is indeed all first person - nonetheless, I'm sure I'll enjoy it, since I love House of the Dead and the like. Looking forward to more information on it towards the end of this week...

I feel sorry for developers. They never can win, can they? I would like to have seen RE5 on the Wii, but I can understand why they're not releasing it. Umbrella Chronicles sounds quite cool to me...

I thought it was in first person all the time?

It's not that I dislike games like House of the Dead, in fact I love them, it's just that... Well if you wanted to make a game less repetitive I can't think of a worse choice to be honest.

That and arcade games should be played in arcades. I had House of the Dead 2 on the Dreamcast with the lightgun, and it just isn't anywhere near as fun as playing it in an arcade. You need to have those guns with the loud clacking barrel that fuck up your aim with their crazy force feedback ;-;

Still though, on-rails shooting just doesn't suit the tone of Resident Evil. At all. Spin-off Resi titles are always shit. It's Capcom's weak-point. They might considered doing a spin-off, on-rails Dead Rising game. That game's more a jokey kind of affair, so would have suited the concept better.

Yes ok alright so it seems that for the moment we're not getting RE5 but to resize a game that was built specifically for more powerful consoles isn't quite as easy as it sounds on paper, apart from scaling back the graphics there are a lot of factors to consider such as the CPU's power to effectively control the AI and all that magone.

Besides about year ago on this very site at least 40% of y'all were commenting how you'd like to see a spruced up version of the PS2 take on RE4 on Wii and taking advantage of Wii's unique hardware. Well, although it's still abit too early to pass judgement now but I was quite chuffed with the screen shots for both Umbrella Chronicles and RE4Wii, they seemed a lot smoother and the lighting and textures of the Chracters particulerly in umberlla Chronicles seemed better than RE4 on the GC.

We'll just have to wait and see how everything pans out because for all we know Umbrella Chronicles and RE4Wii could end up trouncing RE5 in the same way that Sonic and the Secret Rings, a Wii exclusive(though not a perfect game but fun none the less)Did to Sonic Adventure 3 on Xbox360 and PS3 Smilie

Umbrella chronicles looked quite smooth yeah (it better, it's fucking ON RAILS SHOOTER), but tbh, I thought RE4 actually looked WORSE! I think they're just transferring the PS2 version with wii controls implemented... It better get some sort of graphical update, because it now looks shittier than the GC version... >.<
