Nintendo Wii Media | Video of Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Plus RE4 Screens!

By Adam Riley 07.04.2007 42

Update - Both games' media folders have been updated with a heap of new screens courtesy of Jeux France. Check them out below:

  • Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
  • Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition
  • In addition to this, some new information on The Umbrella Chronicles has been uncovered.

The game is set to be a a shooter; will be fully polygonal, meaning no no pre-rendered backgrounds; and will have a special command for close enemy encounters, similar to the one found in Resident Evil 4. When this takes place, it seems the action will move into a first-person perspective to add a more cinematographical air to the proceedings during battles. Finally, apparently the shooter approach is being taken because there are critics who have labelled previous Resident Evil games too boring and repetitive. [ Thanks to Modplan Man for the tip ]

i hope Umbrella Chronicles is a co-op game cus that would be awesome

You do know what Umbrella is...right?

It looks nice, however, I can't get away from this bad feeling of the whole on rails shooter thing. The idea sounds a wii bit ridiculous to me and it would such a shame after the ridiculous dizzy heights that RE4 set. If Capcom think they're going to soothe us by releasing RE4wiimake instead of RE5 they've got another thing coming. It would be one of the soul reasons I'd get a 360. On topic though, it's good to see some of the big hitters back, namely Billy, and the mansion is looking nice. I'll rest my judgement until the first gameplay video is released...

The trailer had second to none graphics on the characters, billy is a :cooldude:

When you shoot the enemies their reactions are pretty dire.

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

Looks the same Remake and Zero graphically.

Although the prerendered backgrounds appear to be 3DSmilie

Can't comment really because the trailer itself was quite blocky.

Resident Evil 4 On Wii should be great! Umbrella...not so much

According to IGN the game will feature both on-rails shooting elements and those mini-game, reaction-time fights like the first one with Krauser.

Think it could be very good. I just hope everyone judges it on its own merits rather than what they think it should be like.

the thing thats surprising to me is the last statement when it said witness the end of umbrella.
It does'nt bother me if the game is a on rails shooter i'm just interested now in how the story pans out

I assume that was all pre rendered apart from the zombie shooty bits.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

    Looks pretty decent.
I wonder if ammo will be limited in this? Would seem kind of strange playing bits of RE1 and blasting the crap out everything arcade style.

Hehe I thought that. He's sitting there playing a game with gore and guts and violence and chainsaws and whatnot, and his eye-candy is doing a sweet grin.

Man: Hey hun, look at me shoot the villagers' heads off!
    Woman: Oh John, you're so...buff

This is a warning message, it's kinda like leave the wii behind! Or you'll be treated to MORE shitty exclusives that no other system would take, and a warmed over old game.

Nintendo really gotta watch what they license, or the system will truly be another Dreamcast.

    ^^^^ What???
Why wouldn't Nintendo licence any RE game? No matter how lazy the effort is?
Secondly, Wii becoming like dreamcast? Wii's quality of games is a debatable subject, but it is obvious that it at least selling a hell of a lot better than the GC and Dreamcast combined.

    ^^^

DUDE Nintendo even said themselves they've got worries of the quality of 3rd party titles, this umbrealla shit is just one example of what will make the great system look like a joke and after thought, they should have demanded a down rezed version of RE 5, not this crap.

The game isn't even out yet. I'll pass judgement on quality when it's released.

i think it looks like a cube game. bit worrying really.

Of course, Nintendo has the power and influence to force developers to make better games (ends sarcasm). They can't just demand things from developers, that is one way of losing them. Also, why would Nintendo care? As long as Wii is getting a RE which most people will buy regardless, why would they care if it was shit or lazy effort.

Wesker looks as camp as ever, then. Hard to determine how much of that was actual gameplay. I'm hoping that the graphics will get a touch-up before release, too. There's still a long way to go, so I'm reserving judgement for now...
