Nintendo Wii/DS News | Activision Increases Support - Guitar Hero, Spiderman & More Announced

By Jorge Ba-oh 08.02.2007 23

In light of the success of both the Wii and DS, Activision have announced increased support for Nintendo systems during the upcoming fiscal year in a recent In a conference call with analysts.

According to GameSpot, the company intend to have 60 individual products, many of which would "aggressively target the Nintendo platforms" with a primary focus for key franchises, "Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, and Guitar Hero," those of which have given the company a large financial gain during the current fiscal year.

Certainly positive news for Nintendo, hopefully paving the way for new franchises on the Wii and DS.

Guitar Hero III for Wii? Thank you.

I really hope we get a Guitar Hero for Wii, would be pretty darn awesome. They maybe able to cut costs by using the Wii remote as the transmitter and a guitar shell with a few buttons plugging into the base of the Wiimote - wireless guitar action at a cheap price.

I really don't see why it can't be possible - even plugging into the USB ports or the GC ones at a stretch.

If they copy form of the X-360 they could have downloadable tracks and online leaderboards etc. This game could be teh must buy for rock lovers like me and even none rock lovers. I want it now!!!

Enoch Powell was right, and you know it.

Certainly positive news for Nintendo, hopefully paving the way for new franchises on the Wii and DS.

Or even updating existing franchises of theirs.

I hope they bring the Hacker games back to life, both of them were great espionage titles.

Great news but one HUGE PROBLEM!!!

To date most games (mostly from 3rd party developers) do not put any effort in visual presentation (PS2 ports or used engines)... It will take Nintendo to set the new standard. So till games like MP3, Mario and a host of other high profile games release that truly show the world that Wii (graphically better than a PS2 and Xbox) is not just an extension of the Wiimote then 3rd Party developers will continue to half ass the graphics for Wiimote mechanics.

After Nintendo set the treat with better graphics and great game play... lazy ass 3rd party will have to start working on (stop porting PS2 graphics)new enhance engines for Wii to put out the best graphics presentation of their games.

Metroid Prime 3, Project Hammer and Mario will set the bar for graphics on the Wii. Ubisoft and other better get their act together by then.

Guitar Hero FTW Smilie

Personally hoping for a Call of Duty that nails the Wii controls and has a quality online mode.

Well we've already had a Call Of Duty and Tony Hawks to be improved upon for Wii. The massive news is the potential announcement of Guitar Hero on Wii, which would be brilliant - another good week in the land of Nintendo, getting Rockstar on board as well...

Oh, wait, I've read around. Guitar Hero has been confirmed. Smilie

That would make it the only console with an official wireless guitar hero controller as well. Pretty shweet.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Guitar Hero would be so cool on the Wii... they could make it a game with drums... and have your own Wii Band... see where im getting at!! Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Wii Music has disappeared for quite while now, don't think we've seen it since E3 last year.

Well Matt Casamassina over at IGN confirmed it in his blog and remember, anything he says GOES.

EDIT: Disambiguation: This link isn't the confirmation, it his just one of it really funny blog jokes, further strengthening the point that anything he says goes. Really funny. Smilie

As someone somewhat mentioned; Drum Hero would rock, however I don't see Guitar Hero working with the Wiimote. It could work as a slidebar, but what about the cords? I think there will be an Guitar packed with the game which will let you attach the Wiimote somehow but not really use it.

Man, they should seriously make a multiplayer band game.

They better have a cool guitar attachment and not a separate controller. The potential is so much higher that way.

Maybe they could halfway judge your live visual performance or at least show you're character on screen doing this awesome moves with your guitar. The controller would pick up motions you make with the guitar as you're rocking out! That's be cool Smilie

A game creating a whole band would be nice too. The guitar, a drummer (two remotes), and a bassist. Now you have a good ol' rock trio.

A band game would have to be online to be awesome. It would be HELLA awesome though
