Acclaim File for BankruptcyUK and USA offices closed down, hundreds made redundant. The End.UPDATE:We have not been able to comment for quite some time now, but now we can break our silence. On Thursday, Acclaim Entertainment Inc. filed for bankruptcy after not being able to line up any new financing. The move, known as Chapter 7 under the U.S Bankruptcy Code, will result in a liquidation of all assets and the selling of the companies IPs. In one sentence: Acclaim no longer exists, and that is final.Original Story: Whilst this was the sort of thing that could always have happened, nobody expected it to happen quite so damn fast. This morning, to all outsiders, Acclaim was still a fully operational company. All of a sudden people from the inside were squealing to the media that the company was closing down. A press frenzy thus ensued as everyone tried to find out what was going on. Now, thanks to email and phone conversations, Cubed3 can confirm that Acclaim have filed for bankruptcy, virtually meaning the company will cease to exist. Acclaim's Texas office has been closed and the company will file for bankruptcy on Monday 30th August 2004 under Chapter 11. Having received a phone call today, Cubed3 can confirm that Acclaim's Manchester Studio has virtually closed down, and all known phone lines were sending out 'Out of Office' messages during normal office hours. Further details are very confusing at present and Cubed3 is not in a position to comment any further due to legal reasons. We will have full updates and more information as and when we can, and when (more importantly) we are allowed. Stay tuned. Please Post Your Comments Below.
