Nintendo DS Comments......Developer's Talk About Their Plans!News on the Nintendo DS is slowing down slightly at the moment as Nintendo tries to resurrect interest in its current systems on the market. But there are a few tidbits that keep surfacing every now-and-then, such as the survey news posted last week. This time round, though, developers have been voicing what plans they could well have in the near future. Below are the highlights of report in EGM Magazine: Toshihiro Nagoshi, Sega (Super Monkey Ball): Nintendo has asked whether he could develop a version of Super Monkey Ball for the NDS, to which he replied he definitely has an interest in making such a game. Shinji Noguchi, Namco (Baten Kaitos): He believes that fans of the original game would certainly love to see the Kaitos series hit the Nintendo DS. However, there are still concerns over the battery life that would be required for such a game. Never-the-less, map-based play in the game would be perfect for the touch screen function of the DS. Koji Igarashi, Konami (Castlevania): If it was to happen it would probably be in the vein of such popular titles as Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow on the GBA and utilise the touch screen...as soon as he figures out how best to use the touch screen taht is. He finishes his comments be pointing out, rather obviously, that the touch screen could become smeared by children's dirty hands after meals. Tomonobu Itagaki, Tecmo (Ninja Gaiden): It appears quite apparent that he wishes to work on the NDS, stating that the system would be far better to produce for than the PSP. Yuji Naka, Sega/Sonic Team (Sonic Heroes): Nintendo actually has already asked whether he would make a Chu Chu Rocket game for NDS - updated from the GBA port of the old DreamCast puzzle title. It is still unclear if this has been given the greenlight or the request denied for the time being. Currently he is busy on the secret Project RUB title, which is apparently to be classed under a new category of gaming. Director of Silent Hill, Konami: He stated he would gladly make a Silent Hill title. The only problem is that gruesome games do not have the same effect when played on small portable systems. Therefore, perhaps once a version with more of a shooting emphasis is envisaged an NDS version will appear... Yasumi Matsuno, Square Enix (Final Fantasy XII): He simply stated that the touch screen of the NDS has so much potential for various game types, but tapping and other similar things would likely be the most common uses. Certainly some interesting words from a select few of the top-level developers in the Industry there. Make of them what you will, but whatever the case this all seems to be further positive news for the Nintendo DS. Its release really cannot come quick enough! Please Post Your Comments Below.
