Mario Kart, Zelda Win Gamescom 2013 Awards on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Gamescom has closed its doors for this year, but the love continues with its annual awards announced today.

With various categories and contenders, Nintendo received a handful of accolades this year including "Best Console Game (Nintendo)" with Mario Kart 8 and "Best Family Game", also going to the Wii U racer. Mario Kart was joined by The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds which took the crown for "Best Mobile Game".

Other non-Nintendo awards included Forza Motorsport 5 for "Best Racing Game", Destiny grabbing hold of "Best Action Game" and "Best Online Multiplayer Game", with PlayStation 4 crowned "Best Hardware including Peripheral".

Did you attend Gamescom this year - if so, what were your favourite offerings?

I don't think either XBO or PS4 are that innovative and great a peripheral to give them the prize, but so is Mario Kart 8. It's superb fun nonetheless, but innovative inough for an award? But I think they see it as a great game, selling great, great fanbase, great gameplay and great look and feel. Something new it is not, but all the other winners aren't, too.
So congrats for both Nintendo games. Good to see Gamescom acknowledges Wii U - more then some others do, it seems.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!
