Disaster: Day of Crisis Delayed in Japan

Nintendo's action packed adventure, Disaster: Day of Crisis, has been made TBA in Japan.

According to an announcement on the game's official Japanese page, a release date has be prosponed to extend development and make improvements to a title that would have hit stores on July 3rd 2008.

Guys you should have known that this would happen. It\'s not like Retro or NST is working on this game. It\'s Monolith, who is a RPG developer. They\'ve never made a shooter before. This is a new experience for them and the learning curve is steep.

I don't think Retro even made a GAME before Prime, you know.

It's a 'serious' game on a nintendo system, being canned is always a high probability.

Retro worked with Rare on Jet Force Gemini and some of the team previously, worked on 3rd person shooters. The Guy, Jeff Spangenberg, who founded Retro was also the founder of Iguana Entertainment, which produced the Turok series for the N64. Some of the staff could have followed him to Retro.

More importantly though members of Retro's Staff are Veterans. Mark Haigh-Hutchinson, who passed away this year, co-develop titles like Star Wars: Dark Forces and Rebel Assault. Nintendo fans will better remember him as the project leader and contributing programmer on such N64 games as Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. And he was integral in the development of the camera systems in the Metroid Prime Franchise, not Metroid that was all Intelligent Systems work.

Mark HH was also responsible for the controls for MP3, still the best First Person controls I've played on any console game.
