Review: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia

Very good and well detailed review. I've heard that you can tap amiibo-mid battle. Seeing as I have all Fire Emblem amiibo (bar Corrin) i'll be intrigued to see this.

That turn back wheel will help a lot, especially as the characters can only hold one item! That's going to be a tough change to get used to. 

I still actually have to knuckle down to finish Fates but this is a day one purchase for me! 

This does sound more up my street than the newer games. I loved Shadow Dragon, as well. Can't wait for this

Glad you two liked it. I would like to also point out that it's a game you can easily play while doing something else. I've been grinding levels on the side while watching TV and the like, it's not that hard to grind levels easily by traveling back to an easier part of the game and have your units just take hits and keep leveling up. It's easily accessible like that, but obviously if you like a challenge, you don't have to do that at all, and you can set yourself a bigger challenge if you like.

Anyway, just one more day to wait folks and you can enjoy this game too .

Really looking forward to this one, since the original Gaiden isn't really my favorite title to play through, just because of how dated it feels. Great review!

Having played this I feel it's more of a 7/10. Honestly, it feels more like Fire Emblem tried to create Fire Emblem tactics on the NES when playing it. It's not a bad game but it's lacking that 'bite' that makes the games so enjoyable. I don't know if it's the stunted growth rates, open levels, or archaic system, but it just doesn't have the bite needed.
