i would love to join! better get bowser training now! my nintendo id is lisandro83
Filthy casual reporting for duty (if there's enough space)
Sonic_13 and Pikasue, if you could post your NNIDs, that would be great.
Okay, there's currently 16 people, but a mate of mine might still be joining, and there are a couple of people yet to come on C3 and get a reply back from them, so might go above 16. I haven't seen Korone since, so if he doesn't show up before the tournament begins, he'll be removed.
The bracket is here: http://challonge.com/ssb4c3
Not finalised yet; it'll get shuffled once we've confirmed everyone taking part.
If I'm missing anyone, or anyone wants their username altered to something else in the bracket, lemme know.
If anyone's not sure exactly how it works, just say and I'll explain. Once it begins, it becomes clear, but I know some might not be familiar with how it works in Double Elimination. But simply put, even if you lose once (no matter which round you lose in), you still have a chance to work your way into the grand final by coming through the losers round. Lose in the losers round, though, and you're out. It just gives people an extra bit of play time and more chance, instead of Single Elimination, where it's lose once and you're out.
One other thing I wanted to say is when it comes to stage selection, ideally both players should choose the Random option, with Omega chosen, of course - so X button, then Random. I know all stages on Omega are pretty much exactly the same, but really, Random should be the option chosen for supreme fairness. Can't make people choose it, but for me, I'll just be choosing (Omega) Random.
Anyway, as for when to start, will see when I hear back from the couple of others I'm waiting on, plus my mate who might still yet register here and join. I honestly don't mind waiting until Lewis gets his Wii U, however long it may be, but I know some people will be eager to get going, so I'm fine if we start it, and then Lewis can get going as soon as he gets his console back.
See what the overriding majority want to do - if people wanna crack on with their openers, then it should be fine imo.
Ok im new to smash bros id like to participate.
squareeyestaco --- nintendo id
Yes, Taco, mate. Legend.
I'm willing to join in. Snowtwo is my Nintendo ID.
Oh yeah my Nintendo ID is : Squidgybuffalo
By the way, just want to thank everyone who's signed up! It's been an amazing turn out, I never expected this many people! Also a HUGE thanks to Az who has been an amazing help and pretty much has been sorting this entire tournament out! Couldn't have done it so well without his help!
Hi, I'll join in if there's room. My NNID is SDragon64.
Dim problem, Marzy. Thanks to you for making it and bringing a bit of life and fun to the forum, and to those that have signed up for some fun, too.
I think I'm only waiting on possible replies from Alex and Nikola on our staff team. I'd expect to hear from Alex, but not seen him online for a few days, which is unusual (usually posts news for us), so don't know if he's away. Have asked Adam if he knows.
So at this point, I don't think there's gonna be many more people joining. So perhaps we can begin it this weekend after I know for sure about Alex and possibly Nikola.
Edit: Yeah, Alex is away until tomorrow, so we should probably wait to see if he wants to join. I don't know if he has the game, but probably fair to wait.

Couldn't add Suze and Snowtwo's NNIDs through Miiverse - had to do it on the Friends menu, so be sure to add back!
I've added everyone else that has posted their IDs.
Nikola doesn't have the game, so just waiting on Alex to hopefully reply tomorrow.
After that, I think we can finalise it and kick off the tourney, so people aren't waiting around. If Lewis gets his console back in the week, it shouldn't be too long for him and his opponent to wait.
My NNID is the same: Sonic_13
If this goes well, we should defo record the next one!
You'd only be able to record your own matches though. Unless you had us all do it live, switching in and out of the lobby and spectating or something.
In DOA tourney we could all save our matches and upload directly to YouTube, so we have a collection of the tourney that way. If you could upload to YT in SSB that would work, but... No.
Don't know any other way for us to record a whole tourney in SSB tbh.
Ya - I've seen the recording person having to join the match, and it would "start" once he as Jigglypuff self-destructed somehow lol - bit painful though, as we'd have to have one of us who can record literally join most - if not all - matches.
Hoping they patch in replay functionality, would be great to have some vids up!
You can't send smash replays to a friend right?

I read that sending replays to friends is coming in a future update, but that was some forum user saying that, so I'm not personally completely sure. Hopefully true though; then we could potentially send to you to record lol.
I do remember something about sharing replays, stages etc. and an actual tournament mode + online tournaments being added in a patch. Might be in a patch with Mewtwo whenever he's ready, who knows.
The downside to recording by staying in a match and self-destructing is that the room has one more person in it, which might make it more likely to lag. Worth a try for semi-finals/finals, maybe.
Perhaps consider it for latter stages, but see at the time. Could be US people and awkward times, and might not wanna risk the possible lag.
Everyone should still save all their replays (win or lose) just for the sake of it (try to remember), and that future possibility of sharing.
Yeah, I'll save all mine just in case they do at replay sharing in the future.
I don't think having an extra person who KOs themself would cause lag. When someone dies, it seems like it more or less cuts their connection. I remember I was playing online with a friend and two computers, and it was lagging like crazy. As soon as my friend lost his last stock and it was just me and a CPU, there was zero lag. This was on the 3DS version, though.
Maybe somebody should test it out in advance.
Speaking of which, does anyone know how well the Wii ethernet adapter works? I remember hearing it actually made Brawl worse somehow, but Nintendo seems to recommend it for Smash 4 online play.
My Wii U is pretty close to my router, but my ISP is terrible sometimes. Hopefully I won't lag much; I've played a few online matches and it didn't seem to be an issue.
To confirm the speculation, there will indeed be an update which adds in the ability to share replays, screenshots and stages with friends. Also in a confirmed line of updates is a tournament mode, Miiverse stage and of course the Mewtwo character DLC.
Hopefully in the update which allows you to share replays, it'll also allow you to upload to YT. I'm kinda doubting it though.
However, I do plan on getting a capture card in the future, so I could just upload people's replays. When that functionality is added, of course.

Just so people know what the situation is atm, I'm just waiting on a reply from Alex (Junksnail) to see if he wants to join. I wouldn't wanna start it without him, and then he gets back saying he would like to join. Think it's just fair to give him the opportunity to say yes or no. Said he was back today, so hopefully will get a reply on Monday.
As soon as I get that reply, I'll hammer that shuffle button a few times, and then we can begin!
Based on some practice matches with SirLink and others earlier, I think it's clear there will no doubt be lag in certain matches. If things get too chaotic and it's literally impossible to play, maybe just agree to restart your matches if you're in communication on here or Skype or something, or reschedule a different time.
I'd suggest turning off as many of your connected internet devices as possible. I know that for me personally, being in a Skype call has a tendency to kill my online games sometimes, so things like that might be best being turned off, or disconnect your phones/computers using the connection. Do what you can, basically, but we're just gonna have to deal with it whatever happens. Hopefully we won't get any seriously completely unplayable matches. I can take random bits of lag gladly enough.
Alex is out (router is too dodgy atm), so looks like we can get started ASAP.
I've removed Korone, since he's not been back to post his NNID or anything (the troll).
I'm gonna give it a final few shuffles (I can't see the bracket when shuffling, so just gonna accept whatever it turns out as)...
DONE!
Above is the final bracket for the tournament.
So everyone can get cracking with organising your matches with each other, however you wanna do it - post in this topic, PM each other directly, email or use Skype or something.
I have certain people's email addresses if people need them, and I will be in touch with my mate Taco to play against Sandy.
Hopefully Lewis gets his Wii U this week to play against Link2thefuture.
Thanks again to Marzy for setting it up, and good luck all!
Remember the rules again, guys:
- 3-stock
- No items
- Omega only (both players choose Random)
- No custom moves/equipment
- Any character allowed, except Miis
- Best of 3 matches (first to 2 wins)
Do make sure to note both players' results (so, let us know here if it was a 2-0 win or a 2-1 win, so I can enter it correctly in the bracket).
Also try to remember to save your replays (win or lose), as it would be nice to keep a record of things with the possibility of uploading/sharing them in the future.
Obviously there is plenty of time to complete your rounds (it says 3 days, but we can go more if needed, so long as people defo will play), but if anyone really does have to drop out for whatever reason, the opponent will get a bye. Just be sure to let us know.
