Hasn't Atari had like a million bankruptcies? Nintendo have shown with the DS and 3DS lines that they're here to stay for a long long time. The WiiU will never see the same sales figures as the Wii but it won't be a complete disaster by any means. As long as Mario, Pokemon and Donkey Kong exist, so will Nintendo.
I always find it annoying that these doom-sayers, especially more prominent ones, seem to forget basic understandings of what Nintendo is.
- It's a company that has been around since 1889
- It's got billions of dollars in the bank.
- It has a massively successful portable line that is magically forgotten and ignored in every discussion about Nintendo's impending failure. (Seriously. This point cannot be emphasized enough. Even if Wii U ended up being a total failure and Nintendo left the home console business, they won't just leave video games or go third party. If anything they would end up doubling down on the already successful handheld side of things. We already get a ton of awesome 3DS games. Now imagine 100% of Nintendo's focus on just handhelds games...)
Nintendo is not going anywhere, nor is Wii U. Wii U has had a tough first year, but there are a lot of great games coming out. Even if not for any other game people DO still buy Nintendo systems just for Zelda or Smash Bros. (I personally knew a bunch of people in college who bought a Wii just for Smash Bros. and then started buying some other games for it.)
Heres a nice right up, based on actual data, that these people are talking onsense:

Note especially the sales numbers.
Also; Why dont Sony and Microsoft get this shit with their "dedicated game-only devices"?
