Hi guys! A couple friends of mine are taking a trip to England in a few days. I'm sure they'll be hitting up the biggest tourist spots and what not, but they both also have a nerdy side. What are some uniquely English nerdy things to see and do while they're there?

Some of their interests are:
video games
chip tunes (both listening and playing)
unique musical instruments (both acoustic and electronic)
Dungeons and Dragons
general nerd merchandise (tshirts, posters, figurines, etc)

I was with them in a retro video game shop recently and they saw a Commodore 64 there. It was a little pricey, so he said he'd wait and consider buying it after he returned from the trip if he had any money leftover. I told him he should look for it while he's in England because it was pretty big over there (right?). They mainly want it to play with the sound chip. Anyone know of a shop that might sell a C64?

Also, feel free to list any non-nerdy places to check out if you feel like it.

Thanks guys!

Where abouts are you heading to in England, London?

There used to be a huge arcade/entertainment centre called Trocadero, but they've scaled back though Smilie
It's tricky, there's not too much I know around here for the odd nerdy place! There's a similar Namco Bandai hub near the London Eye that'd be worth checking out.

I'm not going myself, so I'm not sure where they'll be. They'll be there for about week and I think they'll be in London. It's a vacation, so even if something seems out of the way, if it's cool enough they could probably justify the trip and would see some more of the country anyway.

Is the Namco Bandai thing like a shop or an arcade or something? I'll tell them to look out for it if they go see the London Eye. Thanks!

I found a tabletop games shop that looks interesting. It's called The Orc's Nest and it's in London if any of you guys want to check it out sometime.

The Namco Bandai stuff sells merch but is mainly an arcade area. Its ok, its located on the river front near Westminster Bridge, just look for a McDonalds down there and you'll find the arcade.

Tell them to take a look around Camden, i am sure they'll find some underground stuff there, although it mainly would be music.

i am also only familiar with the places mentioned above there used to be some great places for nerds back than but not now.

These things are mostly use in England. People like to buy and sell these things.
