Excelent interview. REALLY good questions (amazes me how many people ask questions you know they cant answer)

Thoughts:

1. wtf @ the circle pad needing more processing power O_O
Thats crazy whacko

2. I do agree with him about the negatives of simplifying controls. While accessibility in games is great, sometimes you lose something when you automate stuff.

3. Kirbys Air Ride had a open world racing bit? That somes awesome.
Now lets have a massive (REALLY massive) open world FZERO city we can race around eh? Various missions, garages for upgrades, bits you cant get too at first.
Exploration in a racing game would be really unique.

(well, ok DKR sort of had it, but you could go so much further)

Sorry to go off topic of the interview but after reading this bit, Burnout Paradise sounds right up your alley. It's pretty much got everything you mentioned there. Best racer I've played.

Great interview and a really neat catch, getting to sit down with Sakurai himself Smilie

But man it's such a shame to hear about what Sakurai thinks about a sequel! And he doesn't think anyone else will make another one either?
C'mon Sakurai a lot of people would really like another one especially with all the conflicts and characters and the world you've built up. Smilie

Whaaaaat OMG I hope this turns out to be true, I got it for free as part of a temporary offering by EA, for my laptop, but its limited graphical power doesn't allow me to play it at a decent framerate and resolutions... But I spent dozens of hours on it nonetheless, such a great game indeed ^^.

THANK YOU for mentioning Star Tropics to him, seriously THANK YOU.

Yeah, I don't really get that either.

Maybe he means processing as in, the team itself couldn't "process" doing the controls? I dunno.

Never heard of controls requiring prohibitively large amounts of processing power..

Good interview though!

Nice interview, from the comments I'm guessing questions got answered from people who have played Kid Icarus on 3ds. I don't have a 3ds so I have no questions towards that title. I do want a new Kirby game on wii U and for MegaManX to be in the next SSB Smilie

Need For Speed Underground 2 also had a open world where you could drive around for upgrades, secret areas (some after gaining nitrous), and do random races with NPCs to gain money for upgrades and new racing missions.

I think he will revive the Ice Climber series next, considering they have been in every Smash game. Though he could easily make a new F-Zero, StarFox, etc. game. Speaking of the next Smash game... I wonder if Non-Specific Action Figure will make some kind of appearance? Smilie

Thanks for the headsup! I'll check it out (wonder if onlive has a demo)

Thinking about FZero and its speed , I think on reflection the scale of a city wouldn't work.....you would need a planet

He has mentioned serveral times before in the past how he doesn't like making sequels so its not surprising (and in this case I can't blame him, KI Uprising was already big enough as it is). And he actually said in this IGN interview that he can see someone else make a sequel.

First I would like to apologise for not being able to have voice acting for every language in the European version. Considering also the space on the Game Card, we just weren’t able to do this.

HA! Exactly what I said in a previous podcast about how the dialogue in a foreign language (in this case English) is distracting for some European players who have to do some extra thinking to translate at the same time as playing. Don't remember if me saying that was left in said podcast though.

Well, its because with the CPP, you are also using the IR light, so now in addition to managing the game, and handling wireless, it now has to deal with handling another input. Its less like having a Wiimote and a Nunchuck, but more like having a Move Wand, a the "Buddy" controller(The one with the analog stick what I forget what its called)/a 6Axis.
