Hmm, only one person can use a Wii U GamePad.

GamesBeat: How many players can you get on the Wii U at once? Is it four or is it two…?

Poix: On the controller it’s just the one. One person. But you can still play with the four Wiimotes if you have four. So it adds up to five players.

Does this mean the Wii U will only support one U GamePad?

On Rayman Legends, though, looks utterly wonderful. Improved animation and graphics give off a slightly more 3D look. Looks like it won't straight up be about left to right platforming, either. Definitely a good thing to bring in some new stuff. I loved how the music went in time with the platform jumping and rope swinging in the chase level, too.

That looks awesome. I still haven't played origins yet. need to get it for Vita

Legends is also due for Xbox 360 and PS3, sans the U-specific features and five player co-operative play.

This just in, according to this interview Rayman Legends will be a Wii U exclusive.

We then have Rayman Legends, which is a Wii U exclusive title on the Rayman brand.

According to Nintendo Life (above link) it's a Wii U exclusive launch title(like SirLink's link), although the press release doesn't mention the exclusive bit, it also doesn't mention the other consoles.

Now that is a surprise. It's great the U is getting an exclusive title like this of course, but it's definitely a massive shock if it's true. Without a doubt the majority of people that bought Origins would not have got the Wii version or be interested in the U, so to leave them out of a game like this is surprising.

Good interview you posted, too. Some good info on ZombiU and stuff.

I imagine that Nintendo might have played some of their cards to convince Ubisoft to make it an exclusive. With how well received Origins was, Legends is certainly going to make one heck of a launch title that might just get people who really want to play it to pick up a Wii U.

On the Wii U Gamepad support, this article has two counter-points to it:

He might just be talking about there being only support for one GamePad in Rayman Legends.
Ubisoft said they have earlier dev kits during their press conference. The support for multiple GamePads is rumored to have been added recently.

I guess we won't know for sure until Nintendo's conference, which thankfully isn't long away now.

That's what I was thinking about the GamePads. It could only be for this game. But we'll see. It may not even matter.

My game of the show so far, just simply beautiful.

Glad to see the touch input is very responsive. Lag would have killed such controls. The coop looks amazing. Think I will get my gf to play with me. . . .

Looks great.

I'll wait for Nintendo to confirm or deny the one controller rumour.

Actually, indications are the game did best on Wii at first:

Wii version was the only one that charted, though only in the format specific charts (in the UK at least). For other territories it's harder to find the information, so only Ubisoft knows.

Interesting. I had to check out VGChartz to find out for myself.

The PS3 version sold the most in total out of all platforms, with the Wii second, followed by Xbox. Still, we've seen this kind of thing happen before with Soul Calibur 3 being a PS2 exclusive even after the GC vers sold the most.

For Rayman Origins, I blame the really bad pricing in Europe. That stuff cost €45 here even though the USA got it for $25.

2D platformers are perfect for Nintendo platforms. And they can always port the game later if they want.
