They pushed the release date forward? They must feel pretty confident that the game's not gonna need any further development/tweaks then. It's rare that you see a release date get pushed forward, rather than delayed.
They probably did that to bring it on the market before many other big games that are going to arrive later this year, hoping to garner a lot of attention from both media and gamers before the other games can come out and steal attention from RE6.
CAPCOM are really getting me on the hype train for this, hopefully people will support this as per usual. Looks utterly fantastic and if its like the previous iterations then it will be well worth the money!
Good trailer and it is a shame about Claire and Jill. Although I'm thinking since their highly requested characters, hopefully we'll get them as dlc in mercenaries mode and the other vs modes.

Yeah with any luck we'll have a hell of a lot of characters for Mercenaries. I was already overjoyed that we have the Chris/Leon combo and a lot of characters, but felt that, since this is a worldwide virus now, we should have every main character in it for the ultimate fan service and Resi game. I mean surely those two would be playing a big role in this situation? Perhaps RE Damnation will show what happens to Claire before RE6 or something. Fans are never happy, eh? Nah, I'm massively hyped for it and happy to make do without the girls :p
"This was actually one of the first three stages we created two and a half years ago, along with Chris' arrival in Lanshiang at the start of his campaign, and a stage where Jake is chased by the Ustanak. This was at a time when we were trying out different things in terms of technology and direction.
The lighting in this scene is mostly static, from environmental sources, but you will also notice that situational light effects such as muzzle flashes, passing trains and even Leon's limited-range ear-light all produce momentary effects where zombies' faces are lit up.
Another thing about this scene that's quite interesting is something we call "scare lighting". I'm sure you've all sat in the dark and shone a torch on your face from below for that scary effect. We wanted to reproduce this effect in the game, so there is light shining up on the zombies and making them look scarier. It's not "realistic" in the sense that, unlike with Leon's ear-light and other environmental lighting, there is no actual light source underneath the zombies in the tunnel location, but I think it produces a great cinematic effect that works well in the context of the scene.
With this stage we wanted players to experience the fear of walking through the darkness. Light and shadow play a very important part. The initial concept was a scene in a curved tunnel with a large crowd of zombies at the far end, lit so as to be visible only as silhouettes."
"Some people might say that the more people you have with you, the less scary the situation is because you feel safer. Chris and Piers are accompanied by an entire squad of counter-bioterrorism specialists who should be the ideal allies in this situation, and yet even this cream of the crop are picked off one by one by unknown horrors. That's what this part of the game is all about, the escalating fear you feel as your team grows smaller and smaller. It's a kind of terror you can only experience in a group scenario.
In this scene, the enemy is hidden from sight and appears unexpectedly out of nowhere. This creates tension as you walk along wondering what might be up ahead. In other words, you don't even need to have obvious enemies present in a scene in order to feel fear."
"This stage provides a great example of Resident Evil 6's crossover mechanic, with up to four players teaming up to take on a seemingly unstoppable foe, the Ustanak.
The Ustanak can attach different devices to his right arm. One of the interesting ones is the apparatus he uses to grab and crush the player. During gameplay he will start taking out the players one by one, so what starts off looking as a four-on-one fight where the players have the advantage can quickly becomes a massacre. With his right and left arms and the cage-like device on his back, Ustanak can hold up to three players at the same time, leaving just one player left to fight him.
Of course, players can help each other out if they get captured by Ustanak, but they have to get up close to him in order to rescue their allies. Getting near greatly increases the danger of him killing you, so it's a risk you have to take for your team.
In a way it's like the variation of tag chase games sometimes called cops and robbers, where the cops capture the robbers and put them in "jail" where they can't move. Other robbers can free their companions from jail, but as the cops will keep it guarded closely they risk getting caught themselves...
The point of including this mechanic was to increase the stakes not just by requiring players to risk in-game death to beat the enemy, but to help their friends as well. This makes players feel more heroic and they can feel great satisfaction from helping others out.
Another great feature of crossover is partner changes. Certain situations in the game will put players together with someone other than their usual partner. In this stage, Leon teams up with Sherry temporarily, and Jake with Helena. It's a chance to experience some unique teamwork."
Since all four characters are working together, there will be some great moments between characters even outside partner-change sections. Fans of the series will be able to read a lot into interactions between certain characters given their histories; for example, if Leon is hurt and in the 'dying state' where he's on the ground and unable to move much, and Sherry comes over and revives him."
I've already got it preordered for 360 and my other mates are getting it on 360 as well so it looks like we won't be able to play with each other on it which is a shame. The online community is also much bigger on 360 so for a game like RE6, there should be tons more people online to play with.

Games out in 5 days or so
If anyones up for going through the campaign or a bit of mercenaries and is getting it on 360 I'm up for playing when it's out!

Anyone played the demo? I spake thusly about it someweys else.
Yeah, I played it on Sunday. Downloaded it off PSN since the 360 demo is Gold users only. Don't know if there's any difference between the respective demos. The one I played has three scenarios; Leon, Chris, and Jake. I played all three of them (an online user even jumped into my game on the Chris scenario). I don't have much to say that I didn't already say on the series. To me, everything since RE4 has been Resident Evil in-name-only. Everything since RE4 could quite easily have just been a new IP. Not that I 'dislike' the post-RE3 stuff, I thoroughly enjoyed RE4 and 5. But they just weren't RE.
Anyway, onto the demo. Seemed very much like RE5, just with some tweaks. Co-op gameplay throughout. It seems Capcom is set on making RE a massive multiplayer franchise. To be fair to them, RE5 was a fucking good time with a second player. In single-player, it was shit. RE6 seems much the same. A great two-player action game, a bad single-player action game. I found 5 was OK with an online player if they had a mic and you had a good connection to each other, but otherwise it was split-screen all the way for me. Haven't had a chance to split-screen this one (can you even do it?), and the one online experience I had in Chris' scenario wasn't all that. Some dude joined without a mic and died a lot.
The actual scenarios themselves.. meh. I really didn't enjoy any of it. In Leon's scenario I spent a lot of time just sprinting past the zombies to the clearly-marked objective, barely shooting off a round. Even on the bit in the alley with the weird human/dog things. Rather than try and kill them, just sprinted past, got to the waypoint marker, continued on to the next section. When I did shoot, I was getting a lot of headshots, and popping lots of heads. Yeah, the reticule moves about. Wasn't really a problem. With Chris' scenario, I just hosed everything down with my weaponry, hot-footing it to the objective. Much the same in Jake's scenario.
All in all, a pretty forgettable experience in my opinion.
Grrrr! There are too many games that i want at the moment let alone that i have yet even touched. I might hold out and see if this will get a Wii U re-make/port.
Still looks good though, shame that FIFA will most likely overshadow it's sales!
Hi guys! Just thought I'd give the heads up that ShopTo have just given me my receipt and charged me.
