I haven't paid much attention to this festival for some reason, but you'd think with all the complaining we do here about not having large video game events close to home, that we'd all make more of a fuss over this.

I am going to go this year, occupations and responsibilities allowing of course. You bunch of geeks are all posting on a Nintendo fan website, so you better all be going as well.

From what I can tell, the main publicly available events compose of:

Eurogamer Expo 2010: 1st-3rd October (Fri-Sun)

The Eurogamer Expo is the UK's biggest dedicated video games event. Join us in London this October to play some of the most anticipated games for this Christmas and beyond, hear from some of the world's most talented developers, take part in tournaments to win great prizes, check out our indie and retro arcades and get involved with the industry via the GamesIndustry.biz Career Fair.

Tickets

London MCM Expo: 30th-31st October (Sat-Sun)

London MCM Expo is a consumer based show that incorporates Video Games, Movies, Anime, Manga and so much more an all round entertainment based event that now provides an opportunity for great industry interaction.

Tickets

This proposal is quite premature, but I'm getting lonely with the inactivity here. Anyway, if a meet-up is approved by enough people, it may take a lot of time for people to get their shit together.

But if this sudden fit of pro-activeness from me is too much, I'm fine with you all poo-pooing my thread.

Any other events anybody knows about or details you want shown I'll add here, plus any specifics about meeting up I'll also note here.

Finally, can a moderator sticky this please?

Stickied.

I live in Cornwall so I'm nowhere near any of those events. I could fly from Newquay to Europe for the GDC in the time it takes to drive/train to London. To make things worse, I'll probably be preparing for university throughout October. I've been to MCM before and I really enjoyed it, so I'd love to go again, but they always have to pick times so close to term don't they? =_=

So as much as I'd love to, it's probably out of the question for me to go :/

Will be in Japan then so can't go. Smilie
2011, I'll be there :p

Avoid Games Like the Plague, productivity++

I go to MCM every year Smilie Love it.

I might go. It just depends... hopefully though. Smilie

Mcm count me there! Gonna get wasted!

Hmm, definitely considering MCM, never been before, could be epic fun, especially if we made a C3 meet-up of it. Smilie

I want a bit more interest than this guys. Smilie

If the MCM expo is more to everyone's taste, I'm fine with focusing on that for a meet-up should that be done. I will be going to both events.

I nearly always go to MCM and the LAC.

If I could be totally honest, I've grown a little bored of the conventions. I just like to look around there for the odd thing to buy, I'm mainly just dragged there as my girlfriend likes to cosplay.

Yeah me and my bros have been going to the MCM Expo for the past two years. There's always awesome stuff there.

Bump.

Eurogamer will be running out of tickets soon for anyone who's interested, so you'll want them soon. But unfortunately it looks like I've completely failed to generate even a modest amount of interest in these events, a part from a few people who were planning to go to MCM anyway. Any sort of meet-up looks very unlikely.

I'm not gonna be able to go to either event afterall, gonna have work. Smilie Dammit, I've never been to anything like this, was really hoping I could make it to one of them...

LGF doesn't seem very exciting this year, so I'm not going. What happened to the fringe? That stuff was the best in 2008 when I went.Smilie

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Bump

I think I'll go to MCM this Saturday since I have nothing else to do, and the Excel centre is almost literally on my doorstep.

I'll be there today, tomorrow and sunday. I bought the weekend ticket, so I get to check out the stalls early.

I'll be wearing a T-shirt that says "Ultima" on the front and back. It will also have the "MMO-Champion" logo on it. Say hi and tell me who you are if you see me!

Anybody else heading out today? Should be a good one if any C3ers want to meet up!

Sue, I and a few others should be there - was too late to grab press tickets though, argh! Anyways, should be a good 'un! If you see me in a white C3 t-shirt (with a big blue star on it) and a yellow striped cardi, that's me!

Come say HI!

I'm taking my little brother with me, I was planning on wearing my Nintendo Rehab hoody, but I've no idea where it's disappeared to.

The event was OK, kept me entertained for a bit but because I was practically by myself for most of it, it wasn't as fun as it usually is + it starts to make me feel weirdly crazy after a while. Sunday is definitely better for buying things though, they start selling things off really cheap. I met mr Ben Southam (AKA Dojo) on the Nintendo booth though who I had a good chat with whilst getting to grips with Mario Sports Mix.

I agree with you man, this years wasn't as good as last years. There wasn't any good stuff to buy this year as well. I didn't buy anything. =/ I was tempted to buy sharingan contacts but I would't wear them any where besides the mcm expo.Smilie
Marvel Vs Capcom 3 was good though, plays exactly like TvC and also the Nintendo games looked great too.

I had a good time there. I spend about £250 over the course of the weekend.

My friends were invited from another expo as guests so I got to bounce around on their Industry passes and see some cool extra things.

Generally, it was much better than the one in May, in which I swore I would never go to another convention again (three hour queue standing up with a slipped disc).

Since Marzy brought this thread up, and everyone from the 3DS Thread was talking about going, how about we start discussing MCM: May 2011?

I hope it's better than October's one, but then, I didn't get to look around much. I'll be going by myself this time if anything, and we'll probably have a C3 meet up.

Hopefully I'll be able to go, even if none of my friends go this year. Smilie
