It's surprising, considering how much I enjoy the 2D Metroid games, that I am not excited about this at all. I probably won't pick this one up until next year.

The opposite for me. I felt more stoked for this game after seeing its latest trailer than I did for Zelda Skyward Sword at E3. I got massive Super Metroid nostalgia watching it, and the 2D gameplay combined with eerie classic music made me want it badly.
However, I don't want to get too hyped for it, because I can tell this could end up being average. I really hope not, but I'm looking forward to it.
It shouldn't be average, since it is being made by Team Ninja, and they make (whatever you may think about them) pretty good games from a gameplay perspective. I just am turned off about adding bizarre storylines and character interactions into the storyline. I really hope there are not a lot of talking cutscenes or talking in general.
I was excited about this last year at E3 but after seeing Donkey Kong Country Returns and Rayman Origins, I think I might pass this one.
Its metriod. Im sold
