C3 GOTD Poll 9 - 2008!

It's the penultimate nomination poll before 2009's at the end of the year. And then of course the BIG one.

The nominations are:

Fable II - Xbox 360, MGS – Lionhead Studios
LittleBigPlanet - PS3, Media Molecule
Fallout III - Various, Bethesda Game Studios
Left 4 Dead - Various, Valve Corp.
GTA IV - Various, Rockstar North
Super Smash Bros Brawl - Wii, Sora

Sacrifices were made to get Brawl in there. I should say make sure they weren't in vain, but that encourages the nomination of a game that frankly doesn't deserve to win this round. However, I must remain impartial. So do what you like.

Periodically I shall be reminding/badgering people to vote for this and all past polls. I'd like to get at least 50 votes in each poll. The first poll has 40ish votes at the moment so it's easily do-able. All you fringe members/readers log on, follow the links and vote:

It's sad that the only game I've played on that list is Brawl. And it's not getting my vote. So I'll have to abstain.

I really want to play Little Big Planet and MGS4.

The only ones I want to play out of those are Braid and Little Big Planet.

Thank god most of these games appeared on the PC or Brawl would have been the only game I played on that list. Would love to give Little Big Planet, MGS4, Braid and World of Goo a go before I vote.

I actually just got a decent new PC, so despite Uni work about to come down on me in a few weeks, I'm going to try to catch up on a few games in the coming months. (Orange Box comes first...)

I love Braid and World of Goo, but quite frankly they didn't last nearly long enough for me to enjoy them as much as Brawl.

I'd really like to play more of LBP, since I loved what I played, but unless it does a fair bit more to impress me, I'd be lying if I said Brawl didn't give me months of fun.

That said, I'll hold my vote for now. Maybe I'll get to play LBP some more, or try out MGS4, but I'm definitely not feeling lenient to any of the others over Brawl and LBP.

In terms of hours played, Brawl Would get my Vote I think

I think people had their expectations way too high for brawl. I mean as a package, it delivered so much. The only thing that I could really complain about was the online was less than spectacular (quite shit actually).

That's why it failed. Really, the only thing that differentiated it from Melee was new characters and an online mode. And the online completely sucked. That atleast destroyed the game to a degree for me. There's no denying it's a good game, but its a disappointment for failing to deliver on its biggest promise, online play.

Which is the reason why I voted for Left 4 Dead. The online play is alot better. I could go for hours on versus mode playing as the special infected zombies.The graphics are great and were fit to a 'T' for a zombie apocalypse. The personalities were infectious. I like Francis the most. The music was so well thought-out and changed depending on what each player saw.

It was a tough one between that and brawl, but when I thought about all the crap that online put me through, I had to give the one-up to L4D.

I like Brawl, but I never play it. I quickly get bored of it and have only played it two or three times.

The same goes for Little Big Planet. The novelty wore off very quickly. And it doesn't matter how long I spend with it making a level, it ends up crap.

I loved playing/watching Metal Gear Solid and played more than most of my other games. But I feel that because it has so little game play actually in it, I can't vote for it.

So I voted Grand Theft Auto 4. Simply because I've spent more time playing it than I have playing other games.

As I already went for a GTA in San Andreas, instead of GTA4 I'm going to go with Dead Space. It's an excellent game and if you haven't played it, you must check it out.

Sure, if you promise nothing fewer people are going to be disappointed. But Brawl was a flagship title, its job was to make big promises and to deliver. And it didn't.

I played the demo of Dead Space on my big TV in the liveing room with surround sound and was blown away by the sound. I haven't got the full game yet but I will.

I can't vote in this one. Brawl is the only one I've managed to play and I was dissapointed.

Online play in Brawl wasthe reason I bought a new game for the first time in years. I was going to be able to play Smash Bros. with friends a lot. Smash Bros. wouldn't be just some game you dragged out when friends were over. I feel cheated out of $50 frankly.

Without hesitation MGS 4 gets my vote, Brawl was a good game don't get me wrong, but its doesnt feel like such a massive difference from the game we played all the way back in 2002. Albeit, i wasn't dissapointed with Brawl, but MGS 4 is just such a great game!

Much as I'd love to give it to Braid...it's gotta be Fallout 3 for me. I played that game to death, though only from the start of this year really.

Without a doubt, it has to be Left 4 Dead. I'm still playing that game to this day, and I can't say that for the other games. Man, there's just so much packed into that game that it never gets old. LOVE IT!
