The Official Deadly Creatures Thread

I\'ve been following this game for quite a while now and in my opinion, it\'s been looking really good. I watched the IGN Video Review (found below) of the game today and I think I\'ll definitely be getting it now, despite having some minor flaws.

There seems to be lots of really good Wii games coming out, with House of the Dead: Overkill also getting good reviews and Madworld also coming out soon.

I like trying stuff like this, a little something different, so I can definitely see myself getting it sometime.

This is just another nugget from the gold mine that is Nintendo, what a simple idea, yet Ninty have excelled themselves with basic concepts turning into fantastic looking games. This game will only be overshadowed by Monster Hunter, but as this is a way off yet, hopefully DC will establish itself in the charts before then. Well done Nintendo, the capabilities of the Wii are being pushed further. How much further can they go?

Wow, it looks pretty darn nice! Although I'm obviously disappointed in the lack of giant boobs. Smilie

It's not actually made by Nintendo.

I got my copy yesterday.

I\'ve played through a good seven chapters of the game and I\'m really enjoying it.

The visuals look fantastic. There are many different creatures throughout the game that you have to fight. All of them have lots of detail put into them, not only how they look, but also how they move and fight. The huge environments look incredible too, especially when you see the huge humans towering above you.

The gameplay works really well a lot of the time, but there are a few bugs which I noticed. Sometimes it can suffer from a bit slowdown, but it\'s not too bad. The camera also can be a problem in places and sometimes swings into strange positions, but it doesn\'t affect gameplay too much. I also found the Wii-mote controls to be a bit unresponsive and sometimes the game would lose connection to my Wii-mote, which has resulted in me having to reconnect it two times so far. Overall though, I find the controls to be quite good and I found it to be like a blend of No More Heroes wrestling moves, but with creatures.

The soundtrack and voice work are very fitting. Billy Bob Thornton and Dennis Hooper provide the voice work for the two story driven characters and they fit perfectly into their roles. The soundtrack has a scary overtone to it and it fits well with the game and its environments.

You can pick the game up for £24.99 at most online shops and I would definitely recommend this if you\'re looking for something fresh and most importantly, another good game on the Wii.

Thanks for your thoughts Ross. I will be doing my bit for the Wii cause and getting this also. It looks great and very well conceived.

\"but there are a few bugs which I noticed\"

That was deserving of some italic Smilie

I've got my copy, it's on the pile of games to play. It does look interesting, so I'll let you know how I find it once I sink my teeth in.

Did anyone else get this? It would be nice to hear what others thought about it. Smilie

Looks good I have to say. I'll add it to my list of marked villians, I mean list of games I might get.

I hope there's enough variety in the gameplay though, it's not just wrestle with every creature is it?

It does mostly consist of combat with other creatures, but there's some minor strategy involved when killing certain creatures. You can't just kill all the creatures by continuously waggling the Wii-mote. There's also Grubs to collect, which helps break up the gameplay, along with the (really well presented) cut scenes, which tell the story.

I actually can't remember if there was some puzzle elements to it. The exploration is good fun though, especially in the later levels, where they vary more.

There is a story? That\'s where the humans come in I guess, can\'t imagine a spider or scorpion going out of their way to save the princess.

I don\'t think I\'d mind fighting a lot of the time. If I can enjoy Secret of Mana...
