S2HD is like a dream come true!

Sonic really needed to go back onto its glorious roots - and I honestly never imagined we could progress so fast in less than one year with this fast pace.

This has been possible only thanks to every talented and motivated contributor, past and present, which shared the same beloved memories of pure enjoyment with Sonic The Hedgehog 2 we had.

Yes, Sonic 2 HD will set many standards as it aims to be much more than a carbon copy version of the original. For instance, it will be the first time a genuine Sonic game will run at FULL HD cinemascope resolution, Multiplayer Online Competitions, New Levels, unlockables and much more.

So, stay tuned and note this date as the real birthday of Sonic 2HD - we\'ll start to amaze you from now on.

== Installation Instructions==

I just recently got into playing Sonic mods on emulators, so I figured this out rather quickly, but I think instructions would be beneficial anyway.

Download the \"Tech Demo Download\" AND \"Needed D3D DLL Files\". You\'ll need WinRAR (Winzip may work too) to extract them. Extract them into a new folder (I called mine Sonic 2 HD if anyone\'s interested) and then just double click the files suffixed with 1x, 2x, 4x (different zooms), sort out the controls you want, and get playing. You\'ll want to choose Sonic since he looks finished and Knuckles still looks very spritey, and basically you have a large area based on Emerald Hill zone to play around with physics and stuff.

The 4x zoom is the proper zoom, but since there\'s no scroll yet there\'s only a small area to play in, but 4x is what the final game will look most like.

Note! If you can\'t seem to quit, your computer hasn\'t crashed, just press Esc!

==Getting involved==

If you press enter/start after playing the game a while, a short message will tell you that if you want to help, you can. I guess the best place to start for anyone interested would be signing up to Sonic Retro and posting in one or two of the Sonic 2 HD threads.

==Enjoy!==

OMG that is awesome! Smilie I thought it would just look like a crap flash game but it has been put together really well!.

Awesome, I like it.

This is pretty epic. I've got all the old Sonic games, and Sonic 2 is the apex of the series.

When can we expect a the full game to arrive?

Le Awesomeness. The sprites look sweet. Hope they release things every now and then, the final release may not be for ages. Smilie

Nice! Looks awesome, thanks for the download - was wondering if anything had come of this.

No idea when the full game will be out, but I'm not expecting it to be quicker than Sonic ROM mods, which can take years.

So I think we'll be waiting a few years for the full game. Who knows, it may NEVER be a full game since they plan to add extras.

The problem with these fan made games, I'm looking at Prime 2D and Ocarina of Time 2D, is that they never get finished. It's usually because the guys making them lose interest or they get shut down by Nintendo lawyers. Smilie

I don't think Sonic Team could care less considering their game treatment.

They let go of the sue-age of ytmnd aswell.

Well some of the guys I was working on MP2D with are still doing bits and bobs but I pretty much stopped personally because it was too unorganised. The sprites were so varied it looked pretty bad because there were like a billion people spriting. Also some ass came along and stole my spot as lead programmer then did nothing....
