Atari didn't want to file their quarterly financial reports some weeks ago and now we know why Smilie They lost $11.9 million for the Q1

Atari has filed its delayed Q1 financial report, posting a loss of USD 11.9 million or USD 0.89 per share.
Losses were up more than 50 per cent from the year-earlier period, when Atari reported a net loss of USD 7.3 million, or USD 0.54 per share.
As reported earlier, Atari did not file its quarterly report for the period ending June 30, 2007. The company also delayed filing its annual report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2007.
The annual report, eventually filed in September, showed a net loss for the year of USD 69.7 million.
With today's filing, the company anticipates that it will be current in its periodic reporting obligations. In July, NASDAQ had threatened Atari with delisting, granting the company an extension until November 5 to file the 10-Q form. Atari asked for an additional day.
Atari was recently served with a notice to terminate its Dragon Ball Z license by FUNimation, and previously sold its rights to the Stuntman and Driver franchises.
The company did not hold a conference call for first quarter results, but did hold a shareholders meeting today. In its quarterly report, Atari stated that it had "substantial doubt about our ability to continue as a going concern."

it be sad to see them go under if they do they be around for a long time

It would be terrible if they did, they still hold a special place in my heart as well as many other fans of their games, and consoles. I still have my LYNX with California Games.

They havn't been doing as well as they used to, for sure... probably because they just make so-so games, or publish so-so games...

I remember being told that the DBZ game liscence was taken from Atari too, whether they sold it, or whether they just wanted someone else to publish it. Not sure.

I hope a better company like capcom takes the DBZ liscence because Atari stink.

Boohoo meaningless Infogrammes brand name.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

I think Bandai Namco are more likely to take DBZ. DBZ always seemed like Bandai's thing.

Yeah Capcom would not be interested in DBZ, Namco Bandai however even make the bloody toys for DBZ so I reckon they would be in for sure.

Horrible. I was really emotionally attached to this company after all the great games they made 20 years ago. And now they're gone. Why?

I need to be alone now. But thanks for all those great memories guys. You were once a part of this great industry that shaped me as a kid basically and created a purpose for the little money I had back then.

I will never forget you!

Oh crap no more intellivision.

LOL took the words out of my mouth! Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

The real Atari died a long time ago in my eyes. It's just a meaningless name. I don't care anymore.

Atari =

ATARI didnt stay fresh enough by offering "true 3d" or a joystick, or a rumble pak, or cubed like console...or a motion sensing controller...

Personally i thought ATARI had been not doing too bad recently...oh well i was wrong.

Maybe they should have taken a similar route as THQ and create shit kids license games which seem to top the handhelds charts and PS2 charts these days.
