Nintendo News | Mario and Sonic to Sell 4 Mill? [news]

Not surprising it'll sell so much. It'll be a hit to casual gamers old & new. It's a historical occasion in gaming, even if the concept is a little... odd.

It will sell 4m because Mario is in the game, if it was Sonic Olympics it would flop.

yeah, allthough Im waiting on reviews.

Its still just lisenceing out of charecters rather then a game truely made by the skills of Nintendo & Sega.

there's a new video up for mario & sonic on the website. they're both running at the same speed for some reason. probably supposed to make them look like they're not biased, but sonic almost certainly will be the best character (for running) in the game.

I think the game will be good, it won a LGC award or two didn't it? Whether it's a winner or average I'll be getting it. Personally I'm hopeful.

I would say more to be honest, it's on the best selling handheld and console, and has Sonic and Mario in it. A good Sonic game usually sells a million units, good mario game usually sells 7/8m probably more. For example NSMB sold over 5m units in Japan, and that's only on the DS and in one market. So I would think that SEGA should be hoping for 6 to 7m units of this game being sold globally.

If there were more good Sonic games then people would buy more of them...

Sonic Rush did very well. I hope Rush Adventure does well too.

Well true indeed, both Sonic and Mario have been on a downward spiral ever since Dreamcast and GameCube, Sonic much moreso, but Mario has been given a new burst of life under the Wii and DS, the popularity of the NSMB and the hype surrounding Mario Galaxy exemplifies this. Good Sonic games are few and far between, because good SEGA developed games are few and far between. SEGA = BOLLOCKS. It's true don't deny it.

I think SEGA are trying to get on the fix. Supposedly NiGHTS is actually good. If Sonic Team can make a game that's actually good then there's still hope for this world.

Sonic Wii gave Sonic fans hope too, sure it wasn't the instant return to form some were hoping for, but it was probably better than Heroes, Shadow, & Sonic 360. A new Sonic platformer on Wii with more effort put into it could be what the series needs.

The moment a crap 2D Sonic games is released is the moment the Sonic series may aswell be dead, either that or Sonic Team should be stripped of their status as developers & the rights to Sonic should be given to those who actually care. Sonic Genesis on GBA doesn't count, because we all know the original was awesome anyway.

EDIT: SEGA used to be the dog's bollocks. That's quite a bit better than regular bollocks.

um, I guess theyre packing it in with the Wii or something? 'cause 4 mil is a lot to expect, even if it has mario and sonic....really, no one cares that much about a so-called rivalry.

People who were gaming 10 years ago will know all about it & may get back into gaming just to see Mario & Sonic face it off.

If Sonic is promoted in Smash Bros then it'll sell more than M&S if you ask me (It prolly will eventually anyway)

It better do at least that good, I mean come on, it's not just Mario and Sonic, it's Mario AND Sonic.
