Well, if they could somehow find a happy medium, in that the multiplayer of hunters was preserved, while keeping the singleplayer just as great as its predecessors.
But, as seems to be the way with Metroid, one would dominate the game more than the other. In Hunters the online ruined the single player. In Echoes, while not online, the multiplayer really did feel like a last minute rush job, and was rightly criticized by reviewers.
However, having no online in Corruption does not necessarily mean no multiplayer at all, surely? With a bit more time, offline multiplayer could turn out good fun.
