Woah... 400 thousand, the Wii is on fire!!
Is that because of new games or because there were more Wiis in stock?
The latter, I'd say...
How close are these predictions usually?
I'd love to guess random numbers for a living.
I'd say 'not very accurate' from what I've seen before...where they used to say the 360 would be miles ahead of the rest, then Nintendo came along and slapped them all in the face.
But I think it's a fairly safe bet that Wii did indeed beat 360 and PS3, just as it has done in the past few months. Whether PS2 beats it, though, is the question...and just how many DS units were sold.
Thats great news considering that theres wii shortages everywhere.
More Wii! Wii rock! Wii rule!

I knew this was going to happen. Wii offers a lot of things to people. I would classify it like a Family Console...
Wii, Wii, WII!!!
Console half-price of competitors sells twice as much as competitors. Why is everyone always so surprised at this?
Because the GameCube couldn't manage it?
GameCube was shit, though..?

Subjective though friend, the GameCube was my favourite console of all time and my personal opinion would be that the Xbox was and still is the worst console in history.
If we're still seeing these kinds of reports next June, I'm declaring the Wii as winner.
Gamecube was probably the worst Nintendo console but it still had some awesome games and it was defiantly better than the Xbox.

Agreed, the origin XBOX was crud, these games are not-
One Wii to RULE them all! The Wii grows from strength to strength. < Nintendo will be market leaders in two years time and the world will be a happy place in the minds of Nintendo fanboys because Sony will have failed miserably with the PS
How have Pachter's projections matched up with NPD's in the past? I'd be pretty shocked if the Wii were outselling the PS3 4 to 1 in the US or Europe, but I'm sure it's ahead.
Anyway, if a console half the price sells twice as many, that's twice as many consumers ready to buy games for that console. So if you were to cut the number of Wiis in half, their attach rate would be doubled which would actually look worse for Sony and Microsoft (since their businesses rely on using a high attach rate to make money back from consoles sold at a loss.)
Either way, it seems like Nintendo's "screw the hardcore gamers" approach has paid off. If the Wii suddenly went from being the fastest-selling console in history to being a dying fad as many fanboy bloggers are still predicting, Nintendo would still have enough money in the bank to make the "Bloodbox 666" for the hardcore gamers and have a shot at staying afloat. In truth, I think what we're seeing is the hardcore market screaming in anguish at the realization that they no longer control the video game market in general. It's starting to look a lot more like 1982, when games were something families played together. (Hopefully with a little less 1984, when dumb, expensive hardware upgrades to make your consoles into PC replacements, along with a glut of really badly written games that didn't sell, caused the market crash. Hmmm, maybe the PS3's 1984 is happening right now, actually.)
360 is still going to own the hardcore market this time next year, but unless Nintendo makes some huge goof like delaying key titles or requiring the purchase of extra hardware to play A-list games, they'll be tied or ahead in unit sales. It's going to be a 2-horse race unless Sony pulls something seriously magic out of its pants.

No..? Never done that.

I have to agree with Oni, Jacob, he never forced anything down your throat, he stated his opinion that's all, nothing wrong with that.
Now Raab, forces his ideas down other people throats, not Oni.

Y'know, you're right. Apologies. I shouldn't have said "shoved down our throat", that's exaggerating. But it always seems as if you are trying to prove that the Wii is crap.
So in reality I should have said something like:
"But aren't you always saying the Wii is too..?"
Or
"But don't you think the Wii is too..?
As an answer to what you said about the GC as an answer to why it did not sell.

4.) GameCube - 11,769,728
5.) Nintendo DS - 11,287,150
Now that's an interesting comparison. Really goes to show how powerful the DS is right now...
