US Sales | DS Beats All, Wii Above 360 & PS3 for March [news]

My God... 508.000.... whats the total of DS's sold now?

The PS3 figures just keep getting worse. I think they should just discontinue the PS3 and focus on the PS2. Makes sense and you know it:cooldude:

Nothing shocks me anymore when it comes to Nintendo smashing the competition on either a weekly or monthly basis.

We can safely say so far the PS3 has flopped.... its funny coz i was reading the newspaper the other day and the CEO of Sony EU said "Sony profits are higher then last year thats because the PS3 and Bravia TV have had very good sales" who beleives that crap... everytime they sell a PS3 they make a loss instead of profit, im not sure about bravia but i know they gave away 120 for the PS3 launch... and that must of cost tehm over

I believe combined sales of the DS and DS lite have now reached over 40mil units worldwide in just a little over two years. Amazing, Nintendo has a phenomenon on its hands. Good to see the Wii still selling well, hopefully the rumors of fresh stock in April help it to finally overcome the pesky PS2.

And look at Diddy Kong Racing still flying high! Hopefully this encourages Rare to keep working on the handheld.

AT first, I thought that this was pretty standard stuff, thi being Japan and all. Then I saw the country. Impressive.

It reached 40m in January, i am pretty sure. It is probably over 45m now with them ridicolous sales well....everywhere.

PS3 hasn't flopped! I fear it starts slow and runs away in a few months. Wii must bring out some decent software, or the smash hits on PS3 will start to hypen PS3.

Sony always was very good with press. Here in Germany everyone jumps when Sony does some shitty PR (I hate that). And so 'Playstation' dies slowly.

I am astounded that Wii overran x360 - in it's god own country??? That's an accomplishment. Well done, Ninty (And not to mention HALF A MILLION DS sold! I'm more then impressed!).

That reminds me, where's my copy of GoW2, when is it out here, i orderd my copy ages ago.

The stats look good and also understandable, but i dont expect them to stay this way to long.

All the more impressive if the truth is in fact that there are indeed problems supplying the demand, many in america reckon you have to be quick to find one still. LS

I'm fairly certain that the DS was in the 37-38 million territory in late January. At least from what I can gather from Wikipedia. I could be wrong though, either way the DS is selling a ton of units.

I laughed when I heard Sony's excuse for no PS3 HD mode in the PAL version.

Next friday, just check Amazon , ive orderd the Special Ed , close to next gen graphics on the PS2 lolZ.

It will interesting to see it played on the Emotion Engine, i remember hearing murmurs about it upscaling in textures and resolution. LS

Loads of PAL PS2 releases usually get the progressive scan option taken out of them anyway (for some reason which I don't understand considering that PAL PS2s are capable of 480p) so that wasn't really a surprise. However, PAL televisions are able to run games in 576i, which is a better resolution than 480p. Sony stated in some odd explanation that when running God of War II on a PAL PS3 using a HDMI lead, the game will run in 576p (true 576p not upscaled), while on a NTSC PS3 it'll only run in 480p with progressive scan on. So in a way, us PAL gamers got the better deal.

I can't wait for the day when they get rid of PAL, NTSC, SECAM (silly French) and all the other pointless formats and just replace them all with one universal system. Hopefully PAL.

Folks, want to know how Sony has spun those poor results? It states that the PS3 was supply constrained for March in the US...which is a complete lie. How they can have such bare-faced cheek, I don't know.

Also, the other part of the spin was that Sony systems were the only ones to improve in sales from last month...*groan*

Of note, the Xbox seems to have been dropped from the tracking this month, and the GameCube is still tootling along at a nice 22,000 (considering it's 'dead'). Apparently TMNT did well on GC last month, second only to Zelda: TP.
