I have to agree that this SNES game is thee best Metroid of its series! PERIOD! My best time and score is still 3:55 minutes with a 96% done collecting everything I could! I also rate this game 11 out of 10. It's a classical game!SmilieSmilie

Ok.

But then you have to compare it to all other metroid games, i agree that it has the best gameplay and thats what matters. But through this day of age, show it to an xbox 360 gamer and watch him complain about graphics. Show it to a die hard 3D guy, watch him moan about the scence of exploration and scale of the game....

I never got into Metroid at all. Not the 2D or 3D ones. Just not my bag.

Yeah 2D Metoid FTMFW, Super Metroid my favorite game of the series, Prime series is shit.

Super Metroid is a true legend, but Metroid Prime is also fantastic IMO, not so much the sequel though.

I wouldn't agree that the Prime series is bad, in fact I feel it's underated by non-cube owners.

Super Metroid...never really played it, horrible as it sounds. If it becomes available on Virtual console I might get it...

"We destroyed the Taj Mahal?!" FMA: The Abridged series (Episode 4)

it is a really damn good game. "borrowed" it from a friend...

SotN is better.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

I've never played Super Metroid but have played the 2 GBA games and think they're brilliant. The SA-X in Fusion scared the hell outta me. The prime games are great also.Smilie

You just had to...

Gods in His Heaven. Alls right in the World.

I personally think Super Metroid is better than SOTN

*apologies for the double post above, the internet was playing tricks again*

Forgive my lack of knowledge when it comes to abbreviations, but what does SOTN refer to?

Shadow of the Night. It's a Castlevania game, recently came out on Xbox Live Arcade.

1"We're mentalist psychic Scots , which means we can read your mind. If you're lying, your head explodes and we laugh."

symphony of the night*

..........and that relates to Super Metroid how?

"We destroyed the Taj Mahal?!" FMA: The Abridged series (Episode 4)

Similar gameplay. Lead to the phrase "Metroidvania".

They are both similar games.

As it happens the first time I tried to explain Castlevania to knighty I said it was Metroid with swords and magic... However, the two games are exactly the same in the sense that they're completely different. Like Tennis and Tiddlywinks

Not only was SotN made (about (Probably), can't be bothered to check dates) 5 years after Super Metroid but they have a different atmosphere and... Well... Style of play really. Castlevania isn't nearly as much about exploration as Metroid is, and yet I practically attack every single wall I come to in case there's a secret passage there... It confuses me that two games that are so similar in certain ways could be so difficult to compare...

As it is I would probably have to say Super Metroid was a bit better, and I didn't even play it 'back in the day' so I don't have nostalgia clouding my view. I have to say I think Dawn of Sorrow was way better than Symphony of the Night anyway though...

I hate it when I ramble about shit no-one cares about >_>

Never played Super Metroid but i'll probably get it on VC, played fusion though and it's very good, Castlvania Dawn of sorrow is also very good if your looking for some "Metroidvania" on the DS.

so far the only thing i dont like about SotN is the music... does not have that same feel others do IMO S.Metroid has some fricken awesome music though...

Super Metroid kicks Fusion's arse. Suuper Metroid is one of the best platform games I've played, it just does everything right.

To be honest I doubt I could say any of the 3 2D Metroid games was any 'better' than the other... They're all pretty much the same. The only way any is better than the others is technically speaking, which would be Zero Mission, since it looks and plays better than Fusion and Super Metroid. Plus wall-jumping is easier and that makes more difference than everything else ever.

Though I still found it easy in SM
