Well yeah, if you're that dumb to put your health at risk for some product, you probably deserve to die.

EDIT: Just read the article, I think it's really sad. Surely the people who put on the contest would know how dangerous it could be? Just plain stupid.

very sad
but still...

When organising an event in this way, it's actually pretty likely someone will get hurt/injured/killed, or at least wet themselves anyway. It's so stupid, I'd much rather use my common sense & buy one. Even if it means waiting a few months.
Was the competition cancelled after that incident or something? Or did everyone else in it die too.
EDIT: Honestly, we're talking about the life of a human being here. I can't bring myself to find this funny in any way.

jesus christ zcollvee. How is it funny?
i am sorry :wahwahwah:
well now since someone has done it ....
she is mad!!!!!!
she risked her life for a wii...?!?!?!
not worth
I think that is very sad. And ofcourse some people will take on a contest like that. There are stupid persons, but they do not deserve to die.

Imagine how it must feel like hearing her cry of pain. Don't you think she know she was stupid to take on the challenge? She probably didn't realize how dangerous it really was until it was to late.
It's hard to find sympathy for someone who did something as stupid as that, but I guess she didn't know the risks.

She obviously didn't know she could die, you retard.
Well, it was possible she may not have been that smart, but after reading the article I really do find it hard to have anythiung but sympathy for her. To be honest the people that organised the event SHOULD have known, & put it in the event description, but they didn't because they were idiots, or just a bunch of stupid fans with a Wii to give away.
Even I know the risks. I'm 16. Not sure how old she was though, it's possible she wasn't that old, maybe early teens? Oh well.
Read the Wikipedia link on water intoxication before you make any judgements. Here's some choice snippets.
As with alcohol poisoning, the progression from mild to severe symptoms may occur rapidly as the water continues to enter the body from the stomach or intravenously.
Consuming as little as 3 litres (0.79 gallons) in a single sitting may prove fatal for a person on a normal diet.
So it seems like a surprisingly easy thing to do. It's very easy for people to say the consequences were obvious after the fact, but the Radio Station had obviously never thought about it and many people may think that the body would have a fail safe to prevent this (sweat excessively or wee yourself) but it seems that this is unlikely to help if water is taken in rapidly.
Oh and Superlink, she was 28.

She didn't blow up or anything...
I honestly didn't know you could die from drinking water. Anyone able to link something to the biology behind that?
Sympathy goes out to the woman's family for such a waste.
{Guild}Ohmdal: But how did you get the poo inside of the box when the goat was sleeping on top of it?
{Guild}Ohmdal: oops wrong chat
Frazzle: See me post with a link to the Wikipedia entry on water intoxication.

In the BBC story it said that she started to complain that her head was hurting, now wouldn't you stop if it got to this stage
My head hurts if I don't have a cup of tea in the morning. That doesn't mean a lack of tea will kill me. Think before you post!
It's not only the fact that too much of anything in a short time can kill you, but to compete in a contest where you have to HOLD YOUR WEE?
Come on, everybody can understand that that's not healthy. What's next, hold your poo for two weeks?

Clearly it was bound to happen. I thought someone would have already done it. It's a great marketing capaign- "Hold your Wee to win a Wii"!
I'd watch it with anticipation, not thinking of the consequences. Watching a bunch of people not being able to hold their wee after so many hours, then pissing themselves would be hilarious...however it is not what happens.
EDIT: Did she win? If I were her family, I'd want compensation...like a Wii

Wow! That's not very much at all. I feel sympathy for this woman. I wonder who ended up getting the Wii, anyway. I would demand that it be burried with me.
