Two game reviews have been released to the public. Gamespy have given the game 5/5 and UnderGroundOnline gave it an A. So far so good, hey?

So essentially, what you're playing is a port of the GameCube version of Twilight Princess that's been retooled for the Wii. The biggest difference is of course the addition of the new motion-sensitive control scheme. I'm happy to report that the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk do an incredibly admirable job of making the game a lot of fun to play. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that this is a preferable method of controlling the game than a regular joypad.

Given the epic size of the game, it's important to note that there's very little redundancy. You'll not find yourself being forced to do a lot of unnecessary running or riding (remember sailing around in Wind Waker?) thanks to the excellent warping system, and on the whole, the game feels very refined.

n the end, there's no way that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess disappoints. It's an excellent addition (and homage to Ocarina) to the franchise, and you'll have an enormous amount of fun playing it from start to finish. Get over the fact that the Wii's hardware is simply not as powerful as the other next-gen machines and get into the fact that Twilight Princess is one of the best games you'll play this year. If you've been on the fence in any capacity, then please rest assured that you'll not be disappointed. I'm looking forward to checking out the GameCube version later next month, but I'm having a hard time imagining it being any better than the Wii interpretation. Nintendo's flagship game has finally arrived and you better damned well appreciate it. It's ultimately fantastic.

Sounds fantastic.

The Hylia have reviewed it, too. 9.6/10.

Of course, the big question on many fans' minds is if the game lives up to the hype. Is the title harder than Ocarina of Time, and recent titles like The Wind Waker and The Minish Cap? It most certainly is. Does Twilight Princess have more dungeons and take longer to beat than Ocarina of Time? It's a debate if it has more dungeons, I would say "as many", but it is definitely the longest Zelda game ever, in both game play and storyline aspects. Finally, does it surpass Ocarina of Time? This question is reserved for the community and industry in the coming months and years, but all indications are this is simply the best Zelda title ever, and it dwarfs Ocarina of Time in every respect. Nintendo delivers on the goods.

Full review here. Pretty much spoiler free.

how the fuck do you end up with silly scores like 9.6?

Sound - 10: Forget the live, orchestrated argument. Sound effects really hit home and are well suited. Voice work is great and will leave many lingering for full-blown vocal work in later installments. Soundtrack is just breathtaking, with a great mix of revamped classics and truly memorable new additions. Best score in the series, period.

Story - 10: Oh man, this story kicks ass. Nintendo, thank you for growing up and giving us a story that is worthy of the game play that Zelda has boasted for over two decades. If Ocarina of Time was a revolution in Zelda game play, Twilight Princess is a revolution in Zelda storylines. Before this game is done, fan boys will be pissing their pants and message boards will be aflame with rabid fans going nuts over the plethora of twists and turns the game throws at you. Prepare to have your world of Zelda rocked.

I was thinking the same about the lack of voice acting. The new voice for Link really does sound great, if all dialogue would be spoken...even if it was all in a made up language, that would rock. Best score ever sounds fantastic to me, I hope it will be even better than the one in ALTTP.

And a great storyline, who would have thought that.

I'm buying this game, only 1 month left. And the postal service man is in it!

The Postman?

The Postman?!

Yeah, thats extra weird since it is a zelda fansite.

Oh fuck....FINALLY. You know, this is so good. I have kind of got sick of action games, arcades games, no story games, its a phase. I am so in the mood of a game with a good story.

Amen Z, I for one reserve my one liners such as 'Shit, no way!' every time I am required to plunge into dark depths to recover a sacred and ancient dildo of power for Gorons / Zoras / Deku Weedmen before I can talk to the bastards or 'Interesting' when some old fart starts going into a really long winded explanation about heritages and stuff or secret lineages of kings or pish while they are dying and then tells Link how to ride a horse before wheezing his last rather than telling him to get his arse mounted, buy some healing potions from the scary bitch in the shop and then talk later at the inn.

"Meh, I'm getting the original version anyway" [/repeat].

Good news, even better that the versions of Zelda being reviewed are final. We can get a good idea of what the actual produict will be like, instead of impressions of semi-done versions.

I don't need a review to tell me how good Zelda is.

Only to hype it. Smilie

Tom Barry [ Reviewer - Editor - Resident Sim-Racer @ Cubed3.com ]

The reason for the 9.6 is because that's how The Hylia scores things...just think of it as 96%. TSA, the reviewer, is a Zelda nut, but because of this he's harsh on the games. He gave Ocarina Of Time 9.3 while everybody was blowing their loads and giving it 10/10. This is the best scoring Zelda game out of all he's reviewed, and I'm inclined to believe him - great guy when it comes to Zelda.

Sound effects really hit home and are well suited. Voice work is great and will leave many lingering for full-blown vocal work in later installments.

Its hard to believe it'll be better than OoT, but these reviews are great news.

Another Review - 9.9

That is awsome. From the 4 reviews I have read thus far, I find them to very consistent on what they thought the flaws are. In this case, it is the graphics. They all say its amazingly pretty and has a very nice artistic approach, but you can tell its a GC game due to the low resoltion textures.

If the Postman is in it, does that mean there'll be other characters from the Ocarina of Time/Majoras Mask series? How awesome would that be?! Smilie

I remember the arguments over wether we should stick full numbers or decimal places. No game is perfect and even if we give a 10/10 that doesn't mean a game is without fault. That 0.4 is just to show that the game can be improved upon.

Seems like they ironed out the control issues and irritating deficiencies from the version I played then, all good stuff. Only 12 days until I get my Wii too, joyous! Smilie

Trying to think of a witty signature after 'Hacker-gate'...

That 0.4 is just random, the game will be getting 0.5. .4, .3, .2 and point 1s taken off for no discernable reason. Yes, I'm very sure Zelda won't be perfect and room for improvement will make itself presentable but this happens with every other videogame out there. It just seems petty.

The game is offering a superior, a far far far more superior single player experience than most other games recently, where online multiplayer is becoming the catchy phrase in the industry and focuses all the gameplay on YOU, everything that happens in the game will happen to YOU, and YOU alone will be sitting next week skipping a day off work or classes to play through that dungeon that taunted you, and experiences like that are rare, even more so when the game is being showered with good criticism and no one wants to dish out spoilers because there is something to spoil for once, fuck me.

When Cubed3 reviews this, it better get 10.-- out of 10 if it excels in every area because, hell, everyone knows it will and at the heart of that game there is a Gamecube. With reports of 'next-gen' bullshit with people having to pay for downloading the actual game they thought they paid for in the shop the industry really needs a swift kick in the face with steel capped builder's boots and some one to go, 'hey look, this is the standard I want from this generation at the very fucking least and this is last fucking generation so why don't we all work our overpaid arses off to raise the bar rather than lame yearly updates and make games worthy of the plastic it's encased in?'

10 out of 10 Review

Another supurb review, this guy seems ecstatic about the game. Awsome! I had always feared that the reviewers would be stingy and give it low 9s.
Thus far, its average socre on gamerankings is 98%, which I believe is the same as Oot (which is no. 1).

I dare anyone to find anything in 96%, 9.6, 96/100 etc reviews that explain the deduction of .4 or whatever on those games.
