Zelda Review

Why are we even reading reviews lads? Is anyone really not going to be buying this regardless? There are very few games I'd buy blind, but this is one of them.

And don't bother harping on about the difference between versions - if I'm going to buy blind, I'm willing to trust Shigsy and co. not to bodge the controls up by 'shoe-horning' in some motion-sensitivity.

That 10 out of 10 review, it was the first one for the reviewer to give out in 6 years.

I dare anyone to find anything in 96%, 9.6, 96/100 etc reviews that explain the deduction of .4 or whatever on those games.

The textures are crap and there is a small fetch quest in the beggening. But if you ask me, a 0.2% reduction sounds more fair.

Admitedly a lot of the ground and wall textures are crap. For a game to get 10, it has to have good graphics on the technical side as well as artistic.

Yeah, but it's still a rubbish scoring system. 'Scoring' a game is bollocks, anyway. I think the 'Out Of 5' system is clearly the best. It gives you an instant idea of how good the game is, yet doesn't pretend to be an exact measure of a game's worth. 1/5 = Absolutely terrible, 2/5 = Crap, 3/5, Average, 4/5 = Good, 5/5 = Great. Full marks doesn't have to mean that a game's perfect, but it's as good as can be humanly expected.

Absolutely 100% agree (unintentional percentage based pun, sorry). A percentage means nothing, whereas an 'out of five' system has some kind of qualitative meaning, without appearing to consider notions like 'perfection'.

9.6, 10, 9.4, whatever: every single one of those reviews will say it's the best Zelda ever, or as good as OoT. That's the only statement you need to read!

The 9.6/etc type ratings are just as bad as the percetages, really. Take away the decimal point, and what do you have? That's right, 96%

i suggest cubed3 reviews this game and gives the rating to 10 decimal places so we know EXACTLY how good it is...

When we got rid of the decimal point we did think about going to an "out of 5" system then JB hit us with the reality stick. Coding wise its easier to round decimal points up or down then it is to convert a new system when dealing with an entire database.

I just found out that Nintendo Power rate in .5's, so it's not really 0.5 marks off a perfect score when you think about it.

ZerSimmon, its all subjective. I personally hate the idea of giving 10/10 as that to me suggests a perfect, flawless game that cannot be improved upon.

and I never think 10/10, 5/5 or whatever for anything means perfect, as nothing is percfect - it can always be improved upon in some way, whether it be a game, movie, gadget, anything, so I say never take 10/10 as completely flawless - just nearly flawless, or amazingly outstanding.

The lowest score on Gamerankings is 95% so far, with other scores of 99/100 (This game doesn't make my penis bigger! 99 ONLY!!) but I'd personally never expect it to go lower than 9 -- from even the most strict reviewers, like Famitsu. What scoredid they give the game?

Personal preferences Little B

I'm not too bothered with the reviews, because I'll get it anyway, but it's good to see it getting such high scores

Its still promising though. Doesnt matter what reviewers give it now. We are expecting an amazing game for it to be rated between 9 and 10/10.

The only thing is now, is that we all have high expectations which means that we can only be let down. So this game WILL recieve more critisism when it comes out in 2-3 weeks.
