The battery life of things like this doesnt really fuss, me at all. Gameboys have batteries doesnt really effect the gameplay that much.
personally i think a recharge station would be best

There was no reason why not to include a lithem-ion battary.
Heck, make it the same as the DS uses, and have the charger identical.
THAT'S A VERY VALID POINT DARKFLAME. I TOTALLY AGREE
It really does need to be rechargeable! (even if they simply package it with rechargeable AA batteries, it's still better then nothing!)
I still hope there will be a lithium.ion rechargeable battery inside the wiimote, it woud be the best choice.
Man, I HATE A batteries! i was so glad they took them out with sp.
And I'm worried about the weight and battery life of the wiimote, hope Ninty will do a great job finalising the controller.
It needs to have quick swap batteries like the Logitech G7
You can swap these babies out in a matter of seconds for continuous usage.

I think that the controller will have rechargable batteries..using simple AA wouldn't cut it..They need to make their own ones that are more functional and longlasting...

Dude yuor totally awesome. And i won't be killing you anytime soon.
The only problem with using a DS charger is that those Lite-only buyers won't have a charger. The DS Lite uses a different charger to the original which is slightly smaller
NEEDS rechargeable (sp) batteries! there cant be anything that would stop any1 from buying it!

Who said anything about gameplay? We just don't want to buy expensive batteries every 5 seconds.
I like the look of that solution a lot Freexe.
I garantee that we'll get AA slots and a recharagable batter pack which fits in there and a recharge dock later if not at launch.
HAS to be rechareable... or considered as cheap. it puts people off buying if its not rechargeable. It should have a wire that connects to the gamecube controller port and to the back of the wii controller (next to the nunchuck attachmeant port) whn the battery pak on the wii is full then pull the wire out of th wiimote and play wireless. Or they shud make a wireless and wired controller seperate like the gcube

oh plz Nintey dont make this!!! Whats so hard to add an SP rechargable battery to the controller!!
Lets hoe this guy is wrong and nintey have recahragble wii-mote!
Personally I don't mind if they only take AA batteries. I love them and use them for everything. I use Rayovak nimh rechargables with a 15-minute charger.
Nowadays Energizer has come out with lithium AAs which last even longer without a recharge.
khad gets a star for his first ever post, shit hot avy.
This is a terrible move, Nintendo need to either get rid of some of the power hungry stuff (speaker), or come up with a lithium ion with dock station; otherwise run-off the mill AA's simply won't last more than a week.
Ohhh i hope Big N gives us a Black Wii it'll make my dream comes true, don't get me wrong the white wii is still awesome nontheless the doubt but black wii pre-owns the white wii

For crying out loud guys, so what? I don't know how much they cost over there, but here down under batteries cost a few bucks for a pack of about 20. Lithium ion batteries don't last forever either and they cost about 60 bucks for a new one, so either way you're gonna be buying them. They're just batteries.

I was hoping for a red or a lime green Wii.
They never gave us the damned Spice Orange GC in the states and that still pisses me off.
After Nintendo made so many passing comments at the PSP's battery life, you'd think Nintendo would come up with a decent solution.
I honestly belive this would be a massive mistake for Nintendo. Ive had the misfortune of my wavebird dying half way through a game (one on the final boss of Prime 1) and its heart breaking. If Nintendo want consumers to use the Wii as an easily accesible peice of equipment, they need to keep it simple and easily accesable. How about a charger that plugs into the mains via a lead into the bottom of the Wiimote? That would make the most sense.
Rechargable is the only way to go, Nintendo showed that with the SP, Micro and DS - i just hope they don't start moving backwards when the PSP, ps3 and 360 have caught up.

Why would anyone buy regular non-rechargable AAs for high power electronic devices?
You can charge a rechargable up to 1000 times or more. Even if it comes to once a week it will still last theorectically 20 years.
They are still cheaper to replace than a proprietary Nintendo lithium and have the benefit of being able to swap quickly with fresh rechargables if it happens to run out while you're playing.
Seriously people... Just buy some rechargeable AAs! It's not that difficult!
Lithium Ion batteries would affect the physics, aesthetics and cost of the remote. Also
It's messy, unlike a proper battery pack. Using AAs makes stuff feel like a cheap toy. Non gamer people will not want to keep replacing batteries, they're used to charging their phones and iPods etc. It will feel cheap and undesirable when compared to the 360 and PS3 pads.
