Who knows.
Certainly someone in their late teens would most likely be familiar with Super Mario Bros and give this game a shot.
Then again, younger people who like to collect games from number 1 may feel put out they don't have the other 3.
(On the assumption they have started game collecting on the DS)
It may increase sales just for being familiar, but may not so in that people may think I have the other 3, this one will probarly be the same.
Changing the name will certainly give the game a fresh feel, and would work to it's advantage.

Would be kinda nostalgic putting the 4 in there but i don't really mind what they call it.
Hmm, would be quite cool to see it in shops with that name, like the good old days I wasn't aronund for.
I wouldn't be surprised to see it renamed as number 4 before release. What're they going to do when they release a sequel? New New Super Mario Bros.?
(Yeah, I realise they could do 'New Super Mario Bros. 2', but then it starts sounding stupid IMO...)
I think Super Mario Bros. 4 sounds quite cool!
But i do agree with what Razzel said about the new generation of gamers, I reckon tgey'll end up calling it Super Mario Bros. DS
Super Mario Bros. Dead Stranded It would sell if it had that name
Super Mario Bros. Dead Stranded It would sell if it had that name
Everyone's a comdian.
I'm guessing it'll end up with the name 'Super Mario Bros. DS'
Id like the name Super Mario Bros 4 , it would give it a great status like GR871 said but like Razell said people might be put off with the 4th in series without playing the other 3 first.....hmmmm
Super Mario Bros DS will probably be the name adapted. Im liking its development, The video posted up recently on the site is making have that nostalgic feeling of yesteryear. Yay!
Y'know, I just came up with an awesome idea!
It would be great if Nintendo made a Mario compilation for DS, I'm sure the DS could cope with the first 3 Mario Bros games on one cart, & then make a few more, Nintendo need to catch up with SEGA's compilations, there are loads of Mario games people have missed! & they NEED to know WHAT MADE HIM FAMOUS!!
They could release "Super Mario Bros. 1 2 & 3" & "Super Mario Bros 4" on the same week, I reckon the sales would go mad, then at a later date, make a compilation of "Mario Gems" maybe with MARIO RPG!
Good idea?
Oh God, don't give them more ideas for re-releases. They're already out on GBA.

Would be good for Mario's 20th Anniversary and stuff but i think they'll do a compilation for Revo rather than DS
I don't see how people don't know about super mario bros 1, 2 and 3, they have all been released on the GBA and been out a good while.
I think it would be better for DS, as DS could certainly hold a lot of memeory for games, no point in wasting a Revo disc by putting 3 2D games on it...
DS could do it, DS is popular, Nintendo know it is. DS has the power to do it, it also has the new sequel, it could be out at the same time, instead of having to wait 5 months for a prequel compilation on Revo... Yes, DS
But...they're already out on the GBA- kindo making a DS game a bit pointless. On the other hand they could easily make a compilation for Revo downloads, heck, it could include SM64, SMW and Mario RPG as well! That would be sweet!

Games don't stay out for a while... how many of you have seen the Mario Advance games out in the shops? Seriously, I think Mario really needs a compilation, it would be easy to throw together, & would sell bucketloads on DS, to hardcore & new generation fans!
Also, the DS could hold a bunch of compilations, I don't think we should underestimate the cart size of DS. People would kiek it better on handheld I reckon, especially as we know already DS is popular, so it's determied to sell, especially if it was made really cheap, like other Compilations (Sonic Gems was

While I'm sure a DS cart could store 3 2D Mario games, 128MB is hardly a lot by todays standards...
Considering that a SNES cart held 4 of them I'm sure it wouldn't be any sort of an issue...
It would be Mario Bros V actually.
Super Mario World was also known as Mario IV.
Super Mario Brothers 4 would be a nice continuation of the series' name (or "legacy").
However, some poor soul might end up buying Super Mario Advance 4 instead of SMB4. They get home and turn out to be playing SMB3
But was never released as Super Mario Brothers 4.
I suppose really to carry on the naming scheme it should be Super Mario Solar System.
I'm assuming it'll have DS in the title in some way, like:
Super Mario Brothers: Damn Straight!
Super Mario Brothers: Devil Spawn
Super Mario Brothers: Down Stairs
Super Mario Brothers Save the Dumb Slut
Top one is definitely the best... but they'd proably use the 3rd one due to playing across 2 screens in a "Sonic Rush" stylie
lol I like the last one
I agree with what fenno said:

thats what it will be I'm sure
I'm sure I mentioned in another topic that I forgot to buy Super Mario Bros 3 on GBA while I was out. I went to GameStation and was like but wasnt sure whether I said buy it... I know want it and very much wish I did...
