I wouldn't get too worked up about it, same thing happened with splinter cell on the Xbox.

Not sure whether that was saying he advocated the port
So why should cube owners' egos come into Capcom's business plan?

anyone who got the Gamecube version was screwed out of the extras for what reason?
So why should cube owners' egos come into Capcom's business plan?100% true, of course, but surely you can understand people being angry at this? It's a bit like...for example, you asking for a GBA for your birthday, telling your brother over and over how you're getting a GBA, finally getting it, feeling great, and then a few months later your brother (who has all the good consoles anyway) gets an SP for Christmas!
Okay, a pretty shoddy example, but it's the best I can think of right now!

At TGS we spoke with Producer Masachika Kawata, he said only one area was slightly changed, but most likely players who played though the GameCube version most likely won't notice it. So far, I haven't detected anything different at over half-way though the story mode. However, by playing through the PlayStation 2 version, you'll unlock a host of awesome extras.'Doesn't sound like a whole new game to me.
But the Ada side quest is, it plays through the game again but makes considerable changes to the way the game is played, new weapons, new attacks, new levels, puzzles, etc.
Capcom absolutely ballsed up with the Capcom 5. 5 exclusives, one was canceled, three went multiformat and a total of one stayed exclusive to the GameCube and it was average at best. To say, "we will make 5 exclusive games for the GameCube" and for it to end like this; saying get over it seems fairly redundant. Obviously Capcom need to do what is best for them to function as a business, but you can't chat shit and not expect people to call you on it.

Exactally. I don't mind Capcom realising the need a bigger market base and making games for the PS2, I don't think anyone would have minded if all these games came out on both PS2 and the Cube, if Capcom hadn't said that they were making 5 exclusive Cube games. If they needed the money from a buissness point of view then they shouldn't have taken the risk of 5 Cube games!
If they'd said that maybe PNO3 and Resi4 were exclusive, for example, and made the others for PS2 as well, then everyone would have been happy. Instead they said one thing and changed their minds on it later down the road.
It was always gonna turn up on Ps2 eventually
Ok i dont mind that Resi4 is out for PS2 but adding all of those extra stuff in the game its abit f**ked(unfair). There are 80mil PS2 sold so there no doubt that people are going to buy the game all of this extra stuff should have been on GC to help sell more but somehow the stupid people at CAPCOM thought it would be better in the PS2 version!
Im only pissed off at CAPCOM because they added all of these things to the PS2 version an new extra Ada mission which is about 5+ hours of gameplay why couldnt this have been on the GC version???
Anyway im more interested on Krousers backround then Ada's, nobody knows who he is unless i have missed something and he mentiones UMBRELLA so i want to know who Krouser is?!?!?!
Aaaah, the puny little Salazar.
He was my favorite boss of the entire game.
"I want you to suffer just like ashley will"
I hated the Island the worst place in the game!!! right at hte begining i dont like that part until they jump at the rubish place!!!
I loved the buldozer ride!!!!
Im not bothered about it being ported to ps2, better than the unenhanced ps2 to cube ports most companies do.
The thing that annoyed me is that they said it would be exclusive then changed their minds...
Ikaruga, this is what Gastrian is talking about. (I shouldn't quote cause it would take too much space)
@IGN - Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways
Even to the die-hards devoted only to their GameCubes, Resident Evil 4's Separate Ways is something you can't deny yourself. Weighing in at about five hours of gameplay, it provides a significant addition to the game. Elements and encounters are not entirely unique -- don't go looking for this short side-story to offer you the same level of unforgettable shock and awe that RE4 delivered -- but Separate Ways is thankfully a complete gameplay experience. You see old characters in a new light, powerful moments from a new perspective, and unspoken hints both brought to light and smashed apart as lies. This new chapter will only be available after you have unlocked it by beating the main game, so lock and load for a long slog before you see the second light.
Basically, its a two page preview of the entire Ada quest and thats just the last paragraph. It honestly is quite an add-on and will be sadly missed from the GC version because I'm quite interested in what Ada's side of the story is. I doubt possible, but couldn't Nintendo and Capcom do something to release a disc (in cheap paper/ plastic CD sleeves) to retailers with the add-on for free (even if charged $5 isn't much)? Could always rent the PS2 version (no PS2) and speed through the game just to see the added bonuses.
ps. Does anyone yet know if you can REALLY get ammo for the Mine Thrower in the game? I finished the game and have the Handcannon and I do find the boxes of ammo for it since its in my inventory, but never the mine thrower.
pss. Capcom's Okami (<- link) would be sweet especially on the DS.
yes. There is mine thrower ammo and they're called mines (no shit).
It is rare to find and can only be found by killing enemies and in some crates.
Sorry off topic. Would it be better to not have the Handcannon in my inventory therefore that may increase the % in which Mine Darts would appear? I say that because they're both rare ammo. I was thinking that, but haven't had the time to beat the game a fifth (or so) time yet. I've beaten the game that many times because I've been experimenting with all the weapons.
yes, if you don't use the handcannon, mine ammo will increase and become less-rare.
By the way, congrats on neing one of the few people in the world to get the handcannon.
Pffft, i've got it on my second try through the game. I know every location to the treasures as well as all the secret stashes and crows.
Lok harder and sel your stuf to the merchant.
How in hell do you save up 1000000 psta for the infinate rocket launcher? (apart from complete game 10 times)
I did it in one play through (from memory) on normal, just chucked out my log sheet (wrote it as I sold...) but I went through the game selling no jewels etc. and saved them and possibly some guns to get it no problem for the second shot.
I got the infinite launcher as well. Took one play through think.
Heck, you could probably sell some of your weapons if you were desperate...
Selling spare mixed herbs (Yellow + Green + Red) will rake in a lot of cash. I didn't sell any of my treasures either, only the duplicates from the replays. Selling ammo and other items add up. Play smart and conservative, I say.
yea, so?
haha. oh you guys...
feel free to say what you want. if anyone wants to have a "non twelve year old" discussion on why Capcom sucks and should be hated. then come and talk to me.
I never make cheap shots on SEGA even when they screw up. (which is a lot)
Thank God I understand why Capcom is considered the BEST developer in the gaming industry.
Wow, thread opened up after 5 years. o_o
Like SuperShyGuy said, Capcom IS one of the best developers. So what if they port games over and over again? Just take it with a pinch of salt and don't buy them if you aren't interested.
Now that's out of the way, Capcom own the rights to many great game franchises; MegaMan, Street Fighter, Capcom vs., Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and many more. They also made some effin' great Zelda games on the GBC and GBA, so before you hate on them, take some time out to actually play through some of their games.
