New articel on RE4 on PS2.
Fuck Capcom. There isn't anything else I can say about them.
While the GameCube version does look crisper and has a better frame rate
What does it say? I don't feel like typing all those numbers and stuff. EDIT: Oh nevermind i could just copy and paste...Im stupid.

What? I thought that the Gamecube version was only 30fps, surely this can't be lower?
The GameCube version was probably locked to 30fps so that it would maintain consistency throughout. Without the frame rate lock, it might go as high as 60fps at some points, and drop to 30 at others...which would look & feel rubbish.
PS2 can't run RE4 at a locked 30 frames per second. There probably isnt much point in locking it at say 20, so they've left it to be inconsistent....

Ever heard of copying and pasting?
It looks much better than I thought it would....does anyone have any direct comparison shots?
God this is a pathetic thread. I completed this game over 6 months ago and couldn't care less about a PS2 version. Extras or no extras. Now if PS2 had been getting the title and not GC then I could understand. This is Capcoms chance to release possibly the best game of 2005 to 90+ million PS2 owners. Or maybe you'd prefer they wen't bust like a large number of firms have over the years?
Who cares about this port?
I completed the game a while ago and I must say that I didn't like it very much.
And to the ones that hate Capcom for porting RE4 to the PS2: Everyone knew that this game would probably end being on the PS2. 3rd party games don't sell very well on the NGC and Capcom has to survive after all + the PS 2 has a MUCH bigger market than the NGC has. So 1+1=2
I'm not bothered about the port much anymore either. The more people get to play this fantastic game, the better. I completed it in February/March anyway, so I'm not bothered.
I am annoyed about the huge Ada sidequest though. It'd be nice if somehow they could release it as a download on Revolution - not gonna happen, though.
I don't have a problem with PS2 owners getting a port of the game (this is fantastic news for them), I'm mad at Capcom for promising the exclusive title and then pulling back. All Capcom had to do was announce the game as multiformat to begin with and I'd have no problem, there was no need to go through this!
I seem to get over the whole capcom thing, but then someone brings it up again and my anger boils up again
Capcom really sucked ass on this occassion, what was worse is they couldnt wait say a month or two to announce a ps2 version was comming....
1 word: Thick!
They were just asking for the GC vers to underperform by announcing the news when they did.
Ikaruga the problem isn't that there's a PS2 version like Killer7 or that it has some extras like Viewtiful Joe, the main problem for me is that this has a whole new game bundled with it.
I can understand Capcom's position for making it a timed exclusive but to take one of the Capcom 5(4) and then not only add extras but add a whole new quest to it is quite a big kick in the teeth.
Well. That's a bit of a scunner, a whole new level based around a ship?
Ah well, it is one of the best Gamecube games to date, and if Capcom choose to add extras to ports, then it's for the better on the whole I guess.
Still, it would be damn nice to play through the Ada sidequest.
{Guild}Ohmdal: But how did you get the poo inside of the box when the goat was sleeping on top of it?
{Guild}Ohmdal: oops wrong chat
I think Capcom went down since the 90's... Ahhhhh StreetFighter II.
I thought the game wasn't that good.... It had quite alot of high expectations and standards to meet... and it didn't
Whole new game is a bit of an exaggeration isn't it? Anyway, most companies wouldn't have bothered to make it for the GC in the first place. That's how I see it. So the PS2 version has extra features on top of the main game, who cares.
Capcom lied and betrayed Nintendo quite a bit on this one, an intelligent person would say that when you act in such a way that your reputation would be somewhat tarnished? If Capcom wanted a multiformat game they should have announced one (and not neglected the third console).
No-one is denying that PS2 owners will benefit from this, but Capcom still did the wrong thing.
Couldn't have said it any better myslef epoch.

I love capcom, but the inclusion of such a game changing feature is an utter dis-service to the good people like me that eat up nearly everything Capcom have produced from the RE world.
Now I feel the need to buy the PS2 version and see how Ada moves in conjunction with Leon and the story.
I'm not a happy RE fan right now.

Play the mercenaries mini-game with Ada.
I still want to see how Ada moves around, what her motivations are and such...

If I still had my Playstation 2 I'd buy it. Remember the game called XIII? I've had that game on PC, PS2 and GameCube. Why? I don't know.... I'm just like that.
Mind you, the lower graphical quality would make me just turn the damn game off. I hate dropping graphical quality from console to console.

Wouldn't you do the same if you want more money? I find it quite reasonable for porting it to the PS2 but they could have at least made it slightly more exclusive to the GC.
Now you nintendo fans know how us SEGA fans felt when Capcom decided to port the DC exclusive Code Veronica to the PS2.
Face it capcom don't know the meaning of the word exclusive. They are never loyal.
I may get this when it's cheap, just for the new Ada side quest.
Business. Jesus. Get over it.
I would much rather Capcom released this, and used the profit to fund new risks like Viewtiful Joe and so on.
You say Capcom betrayed Nintendo.. but you don't know the other side. Did Nintendo promise higher sales figures than what happened? Did they follow through on advertising promises?
