The latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly features an interview with Nintendo President Satoru Iwata and in this interview Iwata-san mentions that Nintendo is looking into giving some of Nintendo's classic games visual makeovers.

"We are doing several experiments, including working with the original Super Mario Bros, with the new technology," said Iwata. "The game itself and the gameplay shall be identical, but the look will be different; it's possible that with Revolution, we may be able to see the old games with new looks."

Nintendo has gone back to enhance the graphics of classic games in the past. In Super Mario All-Stars for the Super Nintendo, all four Super Mario Bros. games (including The Lost Levels) featured enhanced 2D visuals, with new sprites and art that made the games look very much like they're 16 bit sequels.

Smilie Nice Very interesting cant wait to see what they do with it???

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

i mentioned this in the revo retro to be free topic!:/. Ah well no listened to it anyway.
It would be cool to see The original LOZ with LTTP graphics

Oh im sorry dude Smilie I just found out like 15 mins ago!

As lomg as there are no changes in the gameplay, that would be very cool. There is always room for changes in appearance!

Awww... I wanted a more retro look! Smilie

Nintendo could save money by just emulating the damn games!

Who are we? We are the Knights who say..... "Wii"!

i dont wanna see the graphics done to much, ive got images of all the 2d games being like super smash bros, actually that wudnt be too bad, that would kick ass. ive changed my mind. i wanna see the graphics really well done. Smilie

Sounds good.. budget titles? Wouldn't be a bad move.

Only problem there could be with this is confusion.. iof they are selling the originals over the back-catalogue service, and a remade version...

I only want polished games. I dont want GC graphics for Mario Bros. I want retro looking games Smilie

That's good cos there's no way in hell they'd be arsed to do that! Just a bit of polish to make it smoother does the job for me!

Well, I'd be hoping they offer the original version and the new version.

This really is going to put a dint in the value of retro games actually....

Isn't this a bit like George Lucas messing about with the Star Wars movies, or Speilberg Indiana Jones?

My DS code for 42 classic games is 5026 2806 4140. Looking for people to play Rummy with. Feel free to PM your code. Also, anyone can add my Wii code if they like, PM me with yours too.

Smilie

Revolutionary upgrades dosen't always mean upgrading the graphics. I hope that they might add few bonus options to the retro games. Such bonus options could vary from having co-op mode, versus mode etc.

I would be happy if they only enchanced the graphics so it looks better. Such as sharper, crisper sprites and possibly full colour for most of the nes games, and probaly just better texture for the n64 games, but i don't want anything to go further then that
.

Speilberg made Indiana Jones!? I never knew that...

Now that I think about it it'll take a while to graphically update all those 100's of games. I think the remakes should be available right away and then if they want to they can begin to update them later on.

I dont see why people are so up set it, will probably be just like the updated nes mario games on Super mario all stars

Hey, if they offer the Rigie-dig as well, I'm down.
