The picture of the fake console is looking very similar to infinum labs "phantom console"
phantom being the name, and phantom being that its not been seen by many.
LOL!!!!
Down there at the bottom, there's some spanish writing.
It says:
Thats what I meant when he said he admited it

That is possibly the worst attempt at a system.
It is a hoax and should be completely forgotten about.
The reason why the console right now shows Ethernet ports is because SEGA does not want anyone to know what the Wifi slot looks like.
...ya think?
Its damned Sony's fault!!! They did a massive propaganda saying PS2 was coming out. Developers didnt develop and gamers waited for the PS2...
Its not solely Son's fault.. Sega didn't blow everyone away from launch.

beamrider2600 Wrote: It was Sony and their big marketing budget. The Dreamcast was a far superior system that had better games than PS2. Thats what I hate, people like Sony and Microsoft coming in, who don't know the first thing about making great games and hardware, stealing people away from *real* game manufacturers because they have more money.
Its the way business works- time for you to get used to it.
If the console was so great why didn't it build up a big userbase in the time it had before the PS2 launch?
What would be the point of a SEGA console? You'd finally finnisg SEGA off. Surely we're better off with them as a software company than nothing at all. Which is what would have happened if they had continued.

*wild applause*
I've seen a few comments around along these lines - "why are MS coming along and speeding up the console cycle" and even "why did Sony come along and ruin the handheld market". It's all a bit silly - it's a business, people make money, shareholders need to be satisfied, it's compete or die. It's unreasonable to want everything to be like it was, with Nintendo and Sega in an epic battle at the top and a good six or seven years in between each console.
It did have a pretty big userbase...
Just heard 2000 copies of a Dreamcast game were sold in Japan.
The same game was sold in PSP and did not do very well (at all).
Heh.
It did have a pretty big userbase...
9 Million. At the end of 2004. Worldwide.
That's not a lot.
Bigger then I would have expected though. The Gamecube has only sold ~20 million worldwide (Okay, the the Dreamcast has been out for twice the amount but considering how much of a flop it was at the time it seems like a lot!)

The console is just all the best bits of the other 3, rolled into one.
I have learned that sentence structure is very important.
I learned it the hard way...
I hate school.
Anyways, Sega is doing a pretty good job, they could re-enter the console business with all the money they are making. (Sega Link from the other thread is a good example.)
I too wish Sega would enter the console business again, I would most likely buy their console (depending on the price).
Sega rules.
...they could re-enter the console business with all the money they are making.
I feel enlightened by your immense knowledge of the highest level of the business world.
Seriously- you don't know.
my dads freind is shigury miymitomo and he ssayz that sega is making new console i got pics bbut my computer is broken and it has nospecs yet for shygi mitomyonomi.
Bear in mind though that the 9million was reached in less time (DC production was halted after only a couple of years); and with very little in the way of AAA titles that would attract casual gamers.
The Dreamcast was revolutionary in many ways, including the first true online console gaming, and the first console-to-handheld connectivity. It also rocked. I was one of the people who got the machine on launch day, and was blown away by it. I still am. Long live Sega, and may they one day return to the hardware arena
I'd love to see Sega return to the hardware market, but at the same time I just don't think it's possible at the moment. We have a three way race going on already, another will just crowd and confuse everything.
That's why I'd rather see them release a system with all of Sega's classics stored on it. It's a new system, but it's not directed at compitition with Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo.
Maybe Nintendo a little bit, with the Revolution having the same feature, but the market would be narrowed down - making it much easier to release a console.

True, except the handheld thing, the N64 did that, as did (arguably) the SNES.

But i admit at that the dreamcast was an amazing machine it could even play ps2 games, But the thing was i think it went down because of the time it was released and possibly bad advertising.
Although sega survived many people didn't know about the dreamcast until it was nearly gone.
After that people were anoyed as they found out what a great machine it was.
I still have mine and ahve about 10-15 games maybe more one of my favourite classic DC game on there i would say is shenmue.

Also if they did release there console at this time it is most likly it wouldn't sell much as people will b intrested and deverted to the other consoles.
Sega is likly to release another console as i have said above that they have been making so much money with gaining a company go multi-format and also of course buying a new studio in europe(uk)(opening around about now)
I think a sega retro machine liek soundworks also said would work very well as in china right now the sega mega-drive has jsut been released and is doing well.(go sega!)
Sega probaly is more likly instead of releasing a retro machine may do something like the nintendo's ique or atari classics plug and play or if not that release there old games on the retro at a small charging price (hoping for free as i love most sega games)
Though i reckon if sega do release a new console it will be around the time of the addsessors to the next gens.
msenyszak is this better??

I dont think they need to make a new console... Somewhere on another thread a new Sega site was mentioned. Basicaly, you can download most of their games to your computer and play them.
No need for a new console really.
An idea I had was, make the console worth about 50 - 100$ and make people pay for the games they download.
Or some kind of monthly fee, where you would download three games per week or something of the sort.
Re-selling old games is a steal.
